Oral Cancer Screening: not optional! It should be the standard, at every 011 or 012 appointment.

Dental practitioners are often the first to see the signs of oral cancer, and early diagnosis is key to an 80% survival rate at 5 years.

Reminders:
~ 2x more common in men than women

Higher risk patients:
~ to***co use (any form including va**ng)
~ regular or heavy consumption of alcohol
~ prolonged sun exposure affecting the lips
~ HPV infection
~ age 40+
~ previous oral cancer or family hx

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month. For practitioners, it’s a great time to re-evaluate your dental check-ups to include an Oral Cancer Screening. It’s quick, it’s painless, & patients genuinely appreciate the explanation and care of providing this service 🤩
