We wanted to be open and honest about how we’re feeling about the NDIS pricing changes, effective July 1st. As a small, local business, navigating these upcoming changes has brought a lot of stress and deep conversations behind the scenes.
I wanted to share this photo to show you what ‘behind the scenes’ often looks like. This is me, Brontë, the Speech Pathologist and co-director, working on managing these very changes from my toddler’s bed, while feeding my newborn. It reflects why we do what we do - because we deeply care about providing quality support. As a small business, in a female-led industry, we’re constantly juggling to support our own families while being here for yours.
It’s important to us that you understand the context: while the cost of living and running a business have risen significantly, the hourly rate for allied health professionals under the NDIS has been effectively frozen for the past 7 years. Small businesses like ours are now having to absorb these additional costs.
Our absolute priority, as always, is to provide you with the best possible support. However, with the NDIS reducing time that can be billed for travel by 50%, these new adjustments mean we’ll need to re-evaluate where we can offer services. Businesses will have to limit service areas, which truly worries us, especially for our regional participants where essential services are already scarce. We want to provide reassurance that service area changes won’t effect our existing participants, however will take effect for new referrals moving forward.
You’ll receive a detailed email from us today with all the information about these changes and what they mean for your services. Please keep a close eye on your inbox ✉️
Thank you for your understanding and patience. We truly love what we do, and look forward to continuing to provide Speech & OT support to the wonderful people we’re so lucky to work with 💙
Please reach out to our team with any questions. If you’re concerned about these changes, we encourage you to reach out to your local MP.
