Hi, I’m Kate. I thought it might be time to introduce myself. I’m a therapist in tapping/EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) based in Newcastle but also work via video calls. I’ve operated my own private tapping practice for over 14 years both here and in Sydney. I have a Master of Arts in Psychology through the University of Sydney, as well as receiving Advanced EFT Practitioner Certification back in 2012 through EFT International.

I help people with a wide range of problems. These may be emotional challenges, such as: childhood wounding, family and relationship issues, PTSD, anxiety, and depression, addictions, insomnia, phobias and procrastination. I also help people with physical pain, weight loss and sports performance. Using tapping, we clear the blocks that hold you back from living a life you love.

When I learned that EFT was a combination of modern psychology and Chinese energy healing, it made so much sense to me - the best of Western and Eastern practices in one amazing tool. It is such a simple technique but so effective. Once you learn how to tap you can use it yourself whenever you need it. I have been able to release a lot of long held family patterns, beliefs and painful memories using tapping. I now feel so much more peaceful. If something unpleasant does happen I can tap on it and release it very quickly. I have also used EFT to treat insomnia, anxiety, fear of public speaking, relationship issues and creative blocks.

Did you know stress can weaken your immune system? That’s why finding tools to reduce stress is so important. It seems like everybody just accepts that stress is a part of our modern lives. We learn to live with it and it takes a toll on our emotional, mental and physical bodies. There are many tools that we can use to relieve stress; meditation, massage, and yoga to name a few. Tapping is another wonderful tool that is very helpful for stress relief. A few rounds of tapping takes only a couple of minutes and can quickly relax the body and mind in times of stress.

When we are stressed the body sends the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline streaming throughout the body. Recent studies have found that tapping sends a calming message to the amygdala. The amygdala is part of the brain that identifies physical or emotional threats and stores emotional memories. Once the amygdala recognises that it is safe, the stress reaction in the body decreases. As the body relaxes it can begin to heal itself naturally – and this healing process can happen quickly.

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. It is also known as ‘tapping’. For decades, people have been ‘tapping into tapping’ for anything from anxiety and insomnia to career advancement and managing relationship issues. EFT also helps with physical pain, like headaches, neck pain and even digestive problems.

It’s called ‘tapping’ because when you are practising EFT, you are focussing on an issue while stimulating points on the face and body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The tapping points used in EFT are the end points of energy meridians. They are often places that we touch naturally to soothe ourselves in times of stress – e.g. rubbing the temples. EFT draws on the principles of acupuncture, kinesiology, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and modern psychology.
