🎛️ Group Music Jam | Collaboration & Improvisation

📅 11 April 2026
⏰ 2:00–3:00 pm
📍 Play Anything Music Therapy, 27 Marton St, Shortland

Jump into a hands-on group jam where you’ll create music together in real time.

This session is open to all experience levels and focuses on collaboration, listening, and building a track as a group. You’ll experiment with layering sounds, adding parts, and shaping ideas into a shared piece of music.

Expect to explore percussion, guitar, voice, and more in a relaxed, supportive space where you can try things out and see where the music takes you.

Bring your own instrument or use one of ours, we’ll have plenty available.

🎸 1:00-3:00pm Guitar & Bass Restringing Workshop

Got an instrument that needs some love? Bring it along and learn how to restring it yourself with guidance from Mikey (Embassy Guitar Works).
No experience needed, we’ll walk you through it step-by-step. Strings + tools provided.

🎛️ 2:00-3:00pm Live Looping & Music-Making Workshop

Jump in with Felix + Kata and start creating your own tracks using looping, sampling, and digital tools.
It’s hands-on, relaxed, and beginner-friendly. Just come ready to experiment and make some noise.

🎤 4:00-6:30pm Polyphonic Showcase + Songmaker App Launch

Come for an afternoon of live music and original work from our Polyphonic participants.

We’ll also be celebrating the launch of the Songmaker App 🎉

Plus guest performances, including Brainwaves Blues Band.

Play Anything will be closed over the Easter long weekend on:

Got a guitar or bass that needs some love?

Drop in and learn how to restring your instrument with the support of Mikey from Embassy Guitar Works. We’ll guide you step-by-step so you can do it yourself next time.

No experience needed, just bring your instrument and we’ll help you get it sounding its best.

🎸Strings and tools provided free!
🎸Limited spots. Arrive early to secure your spot!

This workshop is part of the Polyphonic Final Showcase day on April 11.

We’ll also be running a second free workshop exploring found sounds, looping and sampling, plus a live concert showcasing original music created by young people from the program. Watch this space for more info!

🎶 Over three days, young people aged 12–17 will be writing songs, experimenting with instruments and exploring music technology through Polyphonic’s inclusive school holiday program. 🎶

On April 11, they’ll join established musicians on the stage to share music with family, friends and the community.

Polyphonic is a free cultural program bringing together young people of all abilities to create, connect and collaborate through music, and this final concert is a celebration of all that and more.

🎶 APPLICATIONS OPEN! 🎶

Want to stop scrolling music this school holidays and actually make some?

Polyphonic is a free three-day music program for 12–17 year olds who want to experiment with sound and create music in a relaxed, supportive space.

Whether you’re already writing and creating music or have never picked up an instrument, this program has plenty for everyone.

Across three days, you’ll explore instruments, music tech and songwriting, work alongside other young people, and bring your ideas to life with support from two registered Music Therapists.

And to top it all off, there’ll be a live concert on April 11 where participants can share what they’ve created.
Choose from two Newcastle/Hunter locations.

Play Anything was established in 2017 by Registered Music Therapist Carlin McLellan.

Carlin has over ten years experience working in the disability sector, supporting individuals of all ages and abilities.

Our mission is to meet the unique needs of each individual, utilising creative and collaborative approaches.
