Foods for an 8 month old 👶🏼🍓🥚🥑
(plus a realistic look at what actually gets eaten 😂)

A reminder that at this age, solids are less about perfection and more about exposure, textures, allergens, and learning.

Some meals were loved.
Some were ignored.
Some made it onto the floor instead 😅

One thing we encourage parents to focus on is what you’re OFFERING, rather than trying to control exactly how much your baby eats.

If you want more age-based food ideas, comment SOLIDS and we’ll send you our free First Foods Guide 🤍

The guide Includes:

• 6–8 month food ideas
• 8–10 month food ideas
• 10–12 month food ideas

Ever handed your baby a straw and watched them just... chew it? 😂

Learning to drink from a straw is actually a skill - and most babies need a little help getting there. Our speechie Emily has the tricks that actually work.

She’ll be in the comments answering your questions too - drop yours below 👇

That rash after eating - allergy, or just skin irritation? Here’s how to tell. 👇

Because most parents panic when they see a rash after a new food. And we get it. But not every rash means allergy - and knowing the difference changes what you do next.

Dr Eliza, GP and IBCLC on the B**b to Food team, breaks it down:
Allergy rash - hives appearing beyond where the food touched the skin, showing up within one to two hours of eating. Take photos, don’t offer the food again, and book in with your GP.
And in rare cases, an allergic reaction can become anaphylaxis. If your baby’s face or tongue is swelling, they’re wheezing, or they go pale, floppy or drowsy then call an ambulance immediately.

Irritation rash however is redness only where food has touched the skin, during or right after eating, clears quickly and no other symptom’s.

Here’s what’s worth knowing: ASCIA now recommends continuing to offer the food even when you see this irritation rash. Still worth a GP visit and photos if you’re concerned - but you don’t need to stop offering the food.

If allergen introduction is on your mind and you’re not sure where to start - comment ALLERGEN below and we’ll send you our free checklist and more information on getting started with introducing allergens including the When, how, and how often to introduce each of the major allergens safely. 💙

If your baby has eczema and you’ve been handed a cream and told to come back if it gets worse - this one’s for you. 👇

Eczema affects around 1 in 3 Australian kids under 5.
And most families are managing it with only half the picture.

The skin is showing you something.

But the why is often deeper - gut health, inflammation, food triggers, immune function.

Swipe through to understand what’s actually going on.
And what you can actually do about it.

Comment ‘eczema’ for more information and for how we can help you.
