This post has been a long time coming! I am grateful to have a little more time in my life to start writing again.
Acne is an area I am passionate about helping clients with as it has such an impact on their lives; it is a visible imbalance and something they see on their face every day.
Working with me to help heal acne involves;
Investigation
Where is the acne coming from?
Is it from poor gut health; eg an overgrowth of opportunistic bacteria, leaky gut, infections such as H Pylori or a parasite such as Blastocystis hominis, impaired liver detox pathways, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, hormonal imbalances such as estrogen excess, food intolerances, post stopping the pill, nutritional deficiencies etc
My role as a naturopath is to find the underlying cause of the acne and address that for lasting results. Topical treatments can help with acne, if you aren't however addressing the underlying cause it will be limited in its effectiveness.
Investigation in my naturopathic clinic is functional pathology, standard pathology and muscle testing to determine the cause and contributors to the acne. Once I have this information I can target the area affected and hone my treatment plan based on the results. I have the type of brain that just loves digging deeper and joining the dots for my clients!
Commitment
This one comes from you! My beautiful client pictured worked with me for 6 months to get these results with her skin. She was very committed to the process and making the changes I asked of her, both dietary and lifestyle to get these amazing results.
Investment
Functional pathology testing to determine the cause of acne is such a worthwhile investment in your health. I understand practitioner supplements can get expensive for clients, so can expensive external treatments that may have limited effectiveness. I always let my clients know the treatment plan of supplements I prescribe to them is for a set amount of time and is working for a purpose. I divide my treatment plan into stages so as to not overwhelm my clients.
Patience
Healing acne is not an overnight fix and I don't have a magic wand in my clinic!
Compliance
Taking supplements and herbal medicine consistently along with making dietary and lifestyle changes for the best results. I think back to when I first started as a naturopath close to 10 years ago now! I remember clients would come back to see me and not have made any changes and expected things to change!
Time
Healing skin by addressing the underlying cause takes time. I understand this can be frustrating for my clients though it's important to hang in there as the results speak for themselves!
I have found in my clinic there can be many underlying causes and contributing factors for acne and it requires a level of trust from my clients to help them uncover these and to heal ✨
If you are struggling with acne and want to dig deeper to heal it, I would love to help.
Thank you to the beautiful Kishya Sanderson for taking these before and after photos and allowing me to share them ❤️🥰
