Jacks Irish Society Newcastle NSW

Jacks Irish Society Newcastle NSW Our mission is to Connect, Educate and Celebrate. The Jack Murphy Memorial Society Connects, Educates and Celebrates.

Jack's Irish Society serves as a hub for the Irish Community in Newcastle & Hunter region.The Society was set up in memory of Jack Murphy a proud Irish boy who passed away at 14 from Sudden Cardiac Death. Jack's memorial society exists to bring the Irish Community together in Jackโ€™s adopted home, to celebrate Jackโ€™s Irish identity and to raise awareness of, and research funds to combat, Sudden Cardiac Death. We achieve these goals through a combination of
(1) Irish Cultural Events โ€“ celebrating an identity and connecting a community of which Jack was extremely proud
(2) Scooter Events for young sports people; a sport in which Jack excelled;
(3) Educational events in the school communities of which Jack was a celebrated member and finally, through a formal dinner dance fund raiser for the Irish community and friends with Irish medical expert speakers on Sudden Cardiac Death.

The Jack Murphy Memorial Society

The Jack Murphy Memorial Society holds events to raise funds for research into Sudden Cardiac Death. Annually we hold The Jack Murphy Memorial Scooter Fest and The Jack Murphy Memorial Dinner Dance. Jack was only 14 years old when he died from Sudden Cardiac Death on 2nd June 2018 - with no explanation or reason why. As Jack was a scooter rider himself and was well known with his peers and had a huge following worldwide, we thought that the Scooter Fest was the best way to celebrate Jack on his Anniversary each year.

The competition for 2020 will held at Parreys Skate Park, Cardiff, Newcastle on 16th May. The competition is aimed at being a fun day for all and a way for all riders to get together to celebrate Jack and also to raise funds and awareness into Sudden Cardiac Death. The Dinner Dance this year will be held on Saturday 4th July at The Nex Entertainment Centre, Newcastle. We hold this event as close to Jacks birthday as we can which is the 1st July. Last year we raised just over $205k between all events for The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Funds raised this year will go to research at The Hunter Medical Research Institute.

There will be a Sausage sizzle, medals, trophies, ribbons and goodie bags on the day. For further info email - rideformurphyofficial@gmail.com. Donations can be made via the link. https://give.everydayhero.com/au/jack-murphy-memorial-society
