Creating boundaries for yourself can mean:

- Asking people not to touch your bump during your pregnancy
- Letting friends and family know when you’re ready to have visitors after your baby is born. Not everyone wants visitors in hospital for example!
- Being assertive when offered unsolicited advice or criticism.
- Protecting parts of your life that are important to you such as getting regular exercise or catching up with friends.

It’s not always easy to set boundaries, particularly when it’s our own family or in-laws.

Remembering what your values are can help, as can communicating with your partner and listening to one another’s perspectives.

This week is Birth Trauma Awareness Week which aims to raise awareness of birth related trauma amongst individuals, families and health care professionals.

In Australia, 1 in 3 women identify their births as traumatic. Birth partners and health professionals can also experience birth related trauma.

This year’s theme 'better healing' aims to promote conversations that increase awareness and stop the stigma. Find out more by checking out the Australasian Birth Trauma Association: www.birthtrauma.org.au

At times, all parents feel lost and unsure about what their child might need. 👨‍👩‍👧

Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you.

The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

Circle of Security Parenting is a free 8-Week parenting program for parents and carers with a child from birth to three-years, who are concerned about their relationship with their child and/or their child’s behaviour.

The program is held at the Outlets Co-Operative Neighbourhood House in Newport and commences 6 May to 24 June 2021, between 11am to 12.30pm. Free childcare is also available at the venue. 👶👶
