This is not a stroll in the park!

Nordic walking uses your whole body. Arms, core, posture, and rhythm all work together.

Done properly, it turns a walk into a full-body session without the impact.

Learn the difference. Feel the difference.

May is all about walking more. Simple.

But not all walking gives you the same result.

Nordic walking turns a walk into full-body training. You engage your upper body, improve posture, reduce impact through your joints, and move with purpose. It is structured, not guesswork.

That is why it fits perfectly into National Walking Month.

And this month also brings something bigger.

INWA World Nordic Walking Day 16–17 May

A global push to get more people moving properly, with instructors around the world leading the way.

If you are already in fitness, rehab, or community health, this is your opportunity to step up. Learn how to teach it properly and be part of something that is growing worldwide.

Or start where you are. Walk better. Feel the difference.

What if your favourite way to spend time outdoors could also become your work?

Many Nordic walking instructors started the same way. They loved walking, loved being outside, and wanted to share it with others.

Training as a Nordic walking instructor with Nordic Walking Australia gives you the skills and confidence to turn that passion into something more. Our courses use the internationally recognised INWA 10 Step Methodβ„’, the global standard for teaching Nordic walking.

As an instructor, you can build a flexible lifestyle around the outdoors. You are helping people move more, improve their fitness, support rehabilitation, and enjoy being active in nature. Every session brings fresh air, conversation, movement, and the satisfaction of seeing people grow in confidence.

For many instructors, it becomes more than a job. It becomes a community and a way of life.

If you have ever thought about turning your love of Nordic walking into something more, instructor training could be the next step.

Today we pause to remember.

Across Australia and New Zealand, ANZAC Day is a time for quiet reflection and respect. A moment to honour those who served, those who gave their lives, and the families and communities who carry those memories.

It is a day that brings people together in remembrance and gratitude.

Lest we forget.

This is my gym.

No walls. No mirrors. No air conditioning. Just open space, fresh air, and the rhythm of walking.

Nordic walking takes your workout outdoors, where every step moves the whole body, and every walk brings a different view. Trails, parks, bushland, coastline. Nature becomes the training ground.

It is a simple, effective movement that leaves you feeling stronger, clearer in the mind, and connected to the world around you.

Some days you simply need to get outside and move.

A Nordic walk can do far more than stretch the legs. The rhythm of walking with poles, the fresh air, and time outdoors can help clear the mind and lift the mood.

Research has shown that regular physical activity, especially in natural surroundings, can support mental well-being and help reduce stress and low mood. Nordic walking adds a gentle rhythm and full body movement that many people find calming and energising at the same time.

It is not about pushing hard or training for anything. It is simply about stepping outside, moving your body, and giving yourself a moment to breathe.

A walk, a bit of space, and a change of scenery can make a real difference to how the day feels.

7 April is World Health Day.

A good reminder that health is built through small actions done regularly. One of the simplest is getting outside and moving.

Nordic walking turns a normal walk into a full-body activity. Using poles activates the upper body, supports posture, and helps you move with purpose. Many people use it for general fitness, cross-training, rehabilitation, and mental well-being.

Fresh air. Natural movement. Time outdoors.

This World Health Day, why not take a walk and make it a Nordic walk?

Easter egg hunt. But make it Nordic walking.

This Easter, instead of only reaching for the chocolate, grab your Nordic walking poles and head outdoors with family or friends. Hide a few eggs along your walking route and turn your Nordic walk into an Easter egg hunt.

It is a simple way to get everyone moving, enjoy the fresh air, and share a few laughs along the way. Nordic walking works the whole body and suits all ages and abilities, so everyone can join in.

Chocolate and movement. A great Easter combination.

If you give it a go this Easter, we would love to see it.

Stress levels high? Get outside and walk with purpose.

Nordic walking is not only physical training. It resets your head.

The steady rhythm helps regulate breathing and reduce cortisol.
Time outdoors supports serotonin production and lifts mood.
Using poles engages the upper body, giving your mind something constructive to focus on.

It is movement with structure.
It is fresh air with intent.
It is clarity in motion.

Breathe in. Step forward. Feel the shift.

One simple action changes everything in Nordic walking.

Push back.

When you drive the pole backwards and slightly down, your body responds by moving forward and upwards. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. That backward push helps propel you forward, increases muscle activation, and encourages the spine to lengthen rather than collapse.

Done well, pushing back:
β€’ Engages upper body and core, not only arms
β€’ Helps lift posture and open the chest
β€’ Encourages a longer, more efficient stride
β€’ Improves rhythm and flow through the walk
β€’ Makes walking feel lighter and more powerful

This is why technique matters. Nordic walking is not about planting poles. It’s about purposeful push, timing, and direction. When the push goes back, the body moves forward with intent.

Learn it properly, and your walk changes.
