February is Ovarian Cancer awareness month.

What we don't know about Ovarian cancer is
💚 Ovarian cancer has the poorest survival rate of any female cancer in Australia
💚 ~ 1,900 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer
💚 In most cases the cancer will be diagnosed at an advanced stage, treatment is difficult
💚Australian woman dies from ovarian cancer every 8 hours
💚 There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer
💚 70% of women diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer will have a recurrence within 3 years
💚 Signs & symptoms can be subtle, and similar to other conditions; some have no symptoms

Lets talk about Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.

The data says it all:
🌡️ Ovarian cancer is Australia’s most lethal female cancer with a 49% 5-year survival rate
🌡️ 70% of those diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer will have a recurrence within 3 years
🌡️ Symptoms of ovarian cancer are often vague making the disease difficult to detect.
🌡️There is no accurate and reliable early detection test
🌡️ Your family history of cancer is important when understanding your personal risk of ovarian cancer.

Symptoms for ovarian cancer can be vague:
The most commonly reported symptoms for ovarian cancer are:
📍Increased abdominal size or persistent abdominal bloating
📍Abdominal or pelvic (lower tummy) pain
📍Feeling full after eating a small amount
📍Needing to urinate often or urgently

Additional signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer:
📌Changes in bowel habits
📌Unexplained weight gain or loss
📌Excessive fatigue
📌Lower back pain
📌Indigestion or nausea
📌Bleeding after menopause or in-between periods
📌Pain during s*x or bleeding after
