🌿🐍 Welcome the Year of the Wood Snake 🐍🌿
As we step into the Chinese New Year from 29 January 2025, we embrace the transformative energy of the Green Wood Snake. In Chinese culture and medicine, the snake symbolizes wisdom, renewal, and introspection - a time to shed what no longer serves us, much like a snake discards its old skin to grow anew.
The Wood element, associated with growth, renewal, and vitality, combined with the Snake’s transformative energy, creates an opportunity for harmony and balance. This year encourages us to focus on healing, personal transformation, and mindful action.
In Chinese medicine, the Wood element is associated with the Liver (Yin organ) and its paired Yang organ, the Gallbladder. The Liver is responsible for the smooth flow of Qi (our vital energy) throughout the body, detoxification, and emotional regulation, while also influencing muscle tension, vision, creativity and the sleep/dream state. Its Yang organ partner, the Gallbladder, stores and excretes bile to aid digestion and plays a key role in decision-making, and the courage to take action. Together, these organs ensure balanced Qi flow and healthy bodily function. When the Liver and Gallbladder are in harmony, we feel emotionally stable, motivated, and decisive. However, stagnation or imbalance can lead to frustration, irritability, tension, or difficulty making decisions.
