Tailored Tattoo Removal is not a clinic, so unlike other laser tattoo removal clinics I am covered in tattoos and know what it’s like to have a few regretful tattoos on me. Therefore I understand what you need to get the best results for a quality cover up. Tailored Tattoo Removal also work with some of the best Artists in Melbourne that are more then happy to consult with you on a new tattoo design. Why can’t I be sun exposed before or after tattoo removal? ☀️

Great question — and it’s a big one.

Sun exposure increases the amount of melanin (pigment) in your skin. Because laser tattoo removal works by targeting pigment, tanned or sunburnt skin can increase the risk of:
• Burns
• Blistering
• Hyperpigmentation (darkening)
• Hypopigmentation (lightening)

We want the laser focusing on the tattoo ink — not competing with extra pigment in your skin.

That’s why we recommend avoiding sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before and after your treatment, and always keeping the area protected with SPF once healed.

Protecting your skin = safer treatments + better results.

Will tattoo removal affect my body hair?
Absolutely not.

Our laser is specifically attracted to the ink pigment, not your hair follicles. That means the hair in the treated area is completely unaffected — it stays exactly where it should, while we target the tattoo ink safely and effectively.

You might notice temporary redness or slight sensitivity in the area after a session, which is totally normal, but your hair growth won’t be altered.

Whether it’s on your arms, legs, chest, or anywhere else, the laser’s energy only interacts with the ink particles. Your body hair is left untouched, giving you the freedom to fade or remove tattoos without worrying about losing hair in the process.

This tattoo was a tough one — and here’s why.

It was a cover-up, originally done overseas, there was pre-existing scarring and the client was on medication — all factors that can slow the removal process down.

Every single one of these things affects how the ink responds to the laser.

That’s exactly why we do thorough consultations.

No two tattoos are the same. Just because one person’s tattoo faded in 4 sessions doesn’t mean someone else’s will.

Your immune system plays a huge role in removal — the laser breaks the ink down, but your body is what clears it. Add in factors like:
• Type and quality of ink
• How deep the tattoo was placed
• Amount of scarring
• Cover-up layering
• Overall health and medications

…and the process can look very different from person to person.
