Winter Solstice arrives in stillness: the longest night of the year. We find such potency in these times of deep descent and softness.

A time to listen... to move gently... to work with fire, root and bark. To tend to our hearts and hearths, to light our altars with candlelight, and to notice our surroundings- the different birds in the forest, the dancing of whales along our coastline, the scent of our fireplaces, the way the soft winter light subtly changes the colours of our friends' eyes.

It's a time to notice and to listen.

The Nimbin Herbs Team held a gathering yesterday and reflected on what this time of year means to us. We honour the Wheel of the Year in our hearts, in our gardens and herbcraft, in our shop-as-sanctuary, and through this online portal also- the living rhythm and breathing cycle of descent, emergence, loss, and regeneration.

We invite you to join us in tending the threshold.

πŸƒ Deep gratitude to all of you, Seekers and Plant Folk, for visiting us over the last few weeks of school holidays and the two long weekends. As always, it has been wonderful sharing smiles, herbs, and stories with you all.

🌬 As the days grow cooler, it's the perfect time to plant herbs that love the chill, like chamomile, thyme and sage 🌱 You can find these and many more on our medicinal seedlings table out the front of our Shop!

🍡 It is also the perfect time to nourish yourself. Warming teas, cosying up in front of the fire on cooler nights, journeying within. We love our Calming Tea (it's blue!) at this time of year, featuring passionflower, butterfly pea, chamomile, lemon balm, liquorice root, lemon verbena, and blue cornflower. Delicious and soothing.

🌿 We are not slowing down quite yet, however - the Nimbin Herbs Team is gearing up for a huge Mardigrass, and we look forward to seeing you all next weekend! Come and say hello, and explore our beautiful space... we look forward to welcoming you πŸ™

🌧 With the approach of Cyclone Alfred and all that may come with it, many of us in our beautiful local Community (and surrounds) are feeling the heavy weight of uncertainty and past traumas - watching, waiting, and preparing.

🌻 These feelings and emotions are completely natural - we are feeling them too. We would like to offer some support during these times by sharing some small grounding rituals, and some practical support too.

To help ground the spirit and steady the mind:
🍡 Sip some warm herbal tea - lemon balm, chamomile, or passionflower are wonderful for easing tension.

🩡 Take slow, deep breaths. Inhale for four counts, hold for four, exhale for four. Repeat.

πŸͺΆ Hold something from your natural surroundings - a rock, a leaf, a piece of wood, a feather. Let it remind you of the earth’s steady presence beneath you.

Merry Everything from us all at Nimbin Herbs! πŸŽ„πŸŒΉβœ¨οΈ

We are open every day except Christmas Day, with extended trading hours from Boxing Day onwards.

We are extending with open arms a reminder that our air-conditioned sanctuary space is yours to come to if you need a breather - to be with the plant medicines and immerse in their wisdoms... browse a book, take in the fragrance of some incense, or have a moment of meditation with our mandala.

We want to especially acknowledge those for whom this time of year is difficult - for those grieving and experiencing loss, for those who are alone or missing their loved ones, and those who are having a tough time.

We see you, and we are sending you love.
