Young adulthood is a unique stage of life, full of growth, change, and independence.

We’ve spent years supporting young adults, and now we’re bringing that experience into the Young Adult SIL space, supporting meaningful transitions from home to independence.

This is about creating a space that understands young adult life, not just providing accommodation.

New Young Adult Respite weekends are here! 🎉

In response to recent NDIS changes in Short Term Respite, Zest has introduced a new monthly STR format to provide young adults with a consistent, supported, and engaging weekend experience. These weekends run on the last weekend of every month, from Friday 5:00pm to Sunday 11:00am.

✨ Different activities each month
✨ 1:1 or 1:2 support options & Friday evening pass (5:30pm-9pm)
✨ Social connection & skill-building

After a holiday break for most of us, our team is back in the office and ready to support our participants and carers with fresh energy!

We’ve had time to navigate the NDIS respite changes, and here’s the need-to-know for our participants 💛

Short Term Accommodation is now Short Term Respite, here’s what it means for you:

✨ A clearer purpose: giving carers a meaningful break
✨ Updated funding rules: what’s supported (and what’s not)
✨ Eligibility: who can access STR supports going forward
✨ Location updates: respite can now only be used within your home state/territory

Our goal is to help participants and carers feel informed, supported, and confident. We want the changes to be easier to understand, so you can focus on what matters most, your wellbeing! 💙💛

Four years of Zestmas, celebrating, reflecting and growing together, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
Today’s our last day in the office, and as the holidays begin, we’re holding space for both joy and for those who may be finding this season challenging. We also want to send a heartfelt shout-out to the support workers who continue showing up and caring for others over the holiday period, your care and commitment make a meaningful difference.

On Friday 19th December, our Zesty team spent the day on reflection, celebration, learning, and bonding. 💛

We celebrated some beautiful wins and set meaningful goals during our cupcake decorating activity. Wins included moments like “my clients kicking butt with their goals” and “connecting with participants when they trusted no one.” Goals ranged from “to back myself and believe in myself more” to “keep helping the world feel
safe.” We were also honest in acknowledging
challenges, such as “self-care” and “navigating the
ever-changing landscape of NDIS.”

We were incredibly fortunate to have Kirsty from Mind Co. () deliver an inspiring PDA training. Her session was a carefully crafted mix of personal and lived experience, and professional expertise, helping our team truly understand how PDA looks, feels, and is best supported. Kirsty’s training provided us with valuable tools and insights to better support families
and PDAers in our care.

A huge thank you to MadieFidgets () for providing their beautiful 3D-printed fidgets for the day! We’re inspired by the purpose behind your business and the incredible work you do. Your fidgets brought joy
and connection to our team.

And a special thank you to Katey and Kolinda for
organising the day and making sure we were all safe, supported, and celebrated. 💛
