A gentle reminder during this "silly season".

A few extra treats over Christmas? That's okay.
Not making it to the gym quite as much? That's okay.

Life is all about balance. Do your best to move regularly, and remember that exercise is a celebration of your body, not a punishment.

Before you slide into 2022, remember to use your last EPCs or use your private Health Fund to make the most of your benefits.

Do you prioritise making time to keep yourself healthy?

For a lot of us it's not actually about "having time" but "making time" to exercise. We put everyone else first... Our jobs, our families, our social commitments. We forget about our own health.

So for anyone who needed to hear this today: It's NOT selfish to make time for exercise!

Our tip? Book exercise into your calendar like you would any other meeting or appointment. You can thank us later.

A study found that runners had 30% lower adjusted risks of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, respectively, with a 3-year life expectancy benefit. 🏃🏻‍♀️

It concludes that even 5 to 10min a day of slow running is associated with markedly reduced risk of death from all causes and cardiovascular disease. 😀

Not only does running improve your chances of living longer but it is a great tool for improving your quality of life. Exercise in general is one of the best tools we can use for improving quality of life and is widely published, this article being one of our favourites.

Exercise-induced myokines and their effect on prostate cancer❗

Exercise is recognised by clinicians in the field of clinical oncology for its potential role in reducing the risk of certain cancers and in reducing the risk of disease recurrence and progression; yet, the underlying mechanisms behind this reduction in risk are not fully understood.

A recent study found that exercise improves clinical outcomes in patients with cancer. Preclinical studies suggest the involvement of myokines in exercise-induced tumour suppression. Multiple studies have demonstrated the potential of myokines, such as oncostatin M, secreted protein acidic risk in cysteine (SPARC), irisin and decorin, in decreasing cancer cell proliferation, limiting migration and increasing apoptosis.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
