How do you deal with uncomfortable emotions? đĄđ˘đ§
Do you sit with it?
Allow it to rise up, acknowledge it, feel it in your body and release it?
Or do you squash it down and distract yourself?
I used to be a squasher/distractor. âIâm too busy to deal with that right now!â If I wasnât, I would make myself busy, or Iâd head to the fridge for a tasty snack đ°đ
Sound familiar?
Maybe for you itâs a Netflix binge, a mega scroll on socials, a drink, a smoke, compulsive exercise, or some other distraction.
I get it! Itâs not easy to sit with those uncomfortable feelings.
Could you attempt to, just for a few moments? Allow it to rise, acknowledge it, feel it and release it. Through whatever feels good for you; journaling, using breath, conscious/intentional movement, using your voice. Movement through dancing, stomping, shaking, rocking, sobbing, hitting a pillow.
Place your hand on your heart, or your stomach and breathe deeply, holding your body, showing you support it! Sometimes the setting isnât appropriate for big releases, however you can still acknowledge the emotion as it arises and breathe through it, you can visualise it releasing through your hands or feet.
It is a continual journey, and you will get much better at it, the more you allow yourself to feel.
Like a child having a tantrum, when you allow the emotion to rise, it moves through quite quickly. It is the resistance that causes the long term suffering.
Learning what works best for you in releasing emotions is an individual journey, what feels good for someone else might not feel good for you. If you need support, please reach out đ¤
My Womb Hara treatments are on special for the month of December and are an amazing way to drop in to your body, release trapped emotions and activate your parasympathetic nervous system to rest and digest. (Also available as a gift voucher to use later.)
In the new year I will also be offering cacao circles as well as Hypnotherapy to support well-being on all levels. The modalities I work with are deeply relaxing and my biggest mission is to support people on their own healing journey đ đ
