Even the pursuit of happiness and joy are potential causes of suffering if we become attached to them.

In Ayurveda, happiness and joy are regarded as objects of experience, similar to pain and suffering. When we become aware of the subtle difference between the experiencer (the subject) and the experience (the object), what emerges is the correct understanding of what is, and what is happening. At this point we are able to apply the correct intelligence, including the body’s natural intelligence to heal itself, to cultivate an experience that effortlessly produces a natural by-product of joy and happiness.

Happiness, joy and wellbeing are not items to be pursued. They simply emerge when we are able to perceive the objects of our experience clearly without identifying with or getting lost in them.

The observer, simply observing in the absence of mental, emotional and physical objection towards the experience.

This requires active attention, intelligence, correct knowledge, willingness, effort, right action and above all else, letting go of what you think you know to be true. All of which are inherent instruments within the living being.

The objective of Ayurveda and Yoga is to encourage us to come into right relation with the framework that exist within this witnessing mind body complex.

We will be exploring this topic in detail next week Durng our mind body soul series.

Every particle within the universe is a ripple within the causal waters of quantum fields, vibrating into relational interactions, giving rise to mind and sensory perception that forms body and action between subject and object.

Within our own body there appears to be something witnessing, encapsulated in form, and unable to be located.

There is an organised field of intelligence governing our blood pressure, our hormones, glucose levels and hair growth.

Each cell capable of defining its own boundaries with a self-regulating self-awareness, in constant sensory relation with surrounding cells, able to act and respond to environmental changes, with an innate resolve to survive and protect itself.

All of this happens seemingly on its own accord without our conscious thinking mind needing to take care of it. We are just in the middle of this phenomenon that is happening within and around us.

This program is a roadmap to understanding the geography of the human experience.

Tamas is the realm of body, obscurity, delusion and matter. It’s dense and produces apathy and dullness. If tamas becomes the dominant quality we become lost in the world and attached to external objects. We identify ourselves with what we perceive through the sense organs (What can be heard, touched, seen, tasted and smelt). From here we are most distant from truth and most susceptible to manipulation and deceit. When balanced we feel grounded and steady, when imbalanced we lose our power to the parasitic nature that is akin to human behavior and other living organisms. Fear dominates this place because we are unable to see things as they truly are.

Rajas is the realm of the mind and dynamic activity. It is the means of accomplishment and expression. Rajas is the universal doer responsible for converting inactive into active, unseen into seen, its creativities’ vehicle of realizing it’s potential. When in balance its presence is experienced as passion, preservation, focus and determination, creation for the good of all. When imbalanced it is expressed as lust, egoic pursuits, power-over, greed and violence.

Sattva is the realm of the soul and creativity. It’s the pure state by which all expressions birth into existence, it is this present moment that holds the genetic blueprint for everything that has been and ever will be. Sattva is experienced as a state of feeling connected to all that is, feeling present, feeling love, care, kindness, joy. That place of truth and knowing our true nature.

These three modes are essential for the birth, life and death cycle. Depending on how we engage with them determines whether it becomes a blessing or a curse.

Which qualities are predominantly occupying your conscious state?

Do you experience creativity, love, connectedness, joy, kindness, inspiration, passion, focus, determination, courage, integrity, strength, self-empowerment, sturdiness, balance?

Is there lust, greed, anger, resentment, fear, confusion, weakness, lack of boundaries, hopelessness, dullness, apathy……..

Reflecting on and balancing our internal nature is the only way to find harmony with our external nature.

It’s a challenging time at the moment, hard to know what to do, where to listen, who to trust; deception, pressure to comply, censorship, big business, Ill-informed, well-informed, people divided by opinion, people separated isolated and alienated.

You may be feeling a bit overwhelmed right now, mentally congested, anxious, angry, depressed, over it.....

Here’s a simple little suggestion, a kind of prophylaxis for your mental axis

Make a fire and place your mind in the centre. The intense honesty of the flames ignite the soul, lift the spirit, and brings a little light into those dark places that might be leaving you feeling stuck out in the cold.

Allow the flames to burn your mental agitation. Let your mind unwind, make space for discernment and clarity to bring warmth to your thoughts to settle the static, they are inherent qualities in fire, it helps to burn through the bu****it and brings you back to that place you need to be right now.....
......In your center, awake and paying attention.

If a personal belief system, governing body, science or religion does not support the healthy co-existence of humans and nature, and preserve honesty, openness, joy, connection and truth, then what is it’s purpose?

Fear, unhappiness and the stifling of the human spirit can only come about when we are existing in low states of awareness and unsure of ourselves.

The quality of a structure always determines the quality of the function or outcome.

Our own, as well as collective conscious states are also determined by the beliefs, ideas and intentions that form these structures.

What feedback does your current life situation across the mental, physical, environmental, social, financial and spiritual spectrum say about the beliefs, ideas and intentions that you allow to determine the quality of your existence?

Do you feel like your moving towards an expansive and uplifting state, or towards something that feels heavy and contracted?

And if the feedback is negative, what changes can you make today to improve the structure and bring more beneficial qualities into your experience?
