Ah that sweet sound... Happy Friday from Flynn and Danika!

Guess what? For those of you following along, Flynn has now has a speaking valve! We are loving listening to his whispered voice as he works hard at vocalising speech sounds. So amazing to watch Flynn reaching his communication goals with support of his family and therapy teams💪🏼

If you’re new meet Flynn. He was born with a blockage in his trachea and an abnormal fistula (connection) between his oesophagus and trachea. Flynn has used key word sign as his primary form of communication from aged 6 months until now at 5 years. If you’ve watched our Key Word Sign video (shared via All Areas Speech Pathology) you might have seen the progression of his signs from 18months old. After recent major surgery Flynn how has a speaking valve on his tracheotomy so he can work on the vocalisation of speech sounds. 🗣️

Join us for our first Key Word Signing for the Early Education Setting Workshop for 2024....
Online Wednesday February 7th 6:30pm-8:30pm AEST (Sydney time)

Remember 💭 This course is KEY WORD SIGNING and while individual Auslan signs are used the presenter is not teaching Auslan. We recommend sourcing an accredited organisation like Deaf Connect or your local TAFE if you want to learn Auslan, including pathways to becoming an Auslan interpreter. To learn Auslan and embrace the culture of this language, learning is recommended to occur in the context of your local Deaf community through a native signer
