How can we truly have a relationship with the Supreme Person if we do not know who the Supreme Being is? To love someone, we must first come to know them. The Original Cause is not distant or unknowable—He is known as Krishna, the all-attractive and most lovable personality.

Perhaps this is not the image that immediately comes to mind when we think of the God, yet Krishna is the very source of divine and unconditional love, beauty, and spiritual happiness.

This Sunday, at our special celebration of Sri Krishna Janmastami, you are warmly invited to discover more about Krishna, the Supreme Person, and to awaken the spiritual love and union that already resides within your heart.

Is getting things off your chest actually productive? 🤔

When we are frustrated by something someone does (or doesn’t do), we have a tendency to share that frustration with a friend, coworker or family member (or even just a stranger!).

But when we vent, does it actually change anything? What if talking about “stuff” reinforces our frustration or disappointment?

THE WIDER EFFECT

Unless we are really seeking a solution, rather than just wanting to vent and thinking it will reduce our angst by sharing it, we will remain stuck in the problem. Because when you share it, you are hearing about it again! You have just reinforced what it is that is bothering you. Moreover, when you share your frustration without seeking help to move forward, the other also person now has this negative conversation swirling around in their mind! Now you both miss out on feeling the peace and harmony you would have experienced if you were seeking a solution instead of looking at the faults of someone.

SOLUTIONS

So next time you feel like venting—and it can be about the smallest thing—pause. Decide, do I want to feel happy right now, or do I want to feel discontent? Do I want that feeling of discontent to hang over me for the next hour or even the rest of the day? Do I want the person I’m going to vent to also feel discontent?

If you choose happiness, take a few slow focused deep breaths. Try to let go of the negative emotion you were feeling, step back, be mindful, be reflective. You will then experience more clarity to look for a solution and then naturally you will feel more peaceful and happier.

REMEMBER

We all have faults, we all see things differently, but underneath we are all pure spirit souls.

The Yoga Breath: Deep But Not Full 🎈

There is a common misconception that to relax we should take big deep breaths.

While it is certainly beneficial to breathe deeply in order to relax, full or ‘big’ breaths are not so good. The reason behind this in simple terms is that too much air in is usually coupled with not enough air out, and this gives a slight hyperventilation effect. Hyperventilation even at a mild level brings the nervous system into high alert which is not usually what we are looking for when we breathe deeply.

How to breathe deeply but not fully.

> Sit comfortably and place one hand on the abdomen and one hand on the upper chest.
> As you inhale let the breath come deep to the bottom of the lungs and feel your abdomen pushing outwards.
> As you exhale feel it drawing back to the spine.
> On your next inward breath fill the lungs completely as you count to 10 and feel your top hand lifting high.
> Exhale.
> From now on inhale deeply but only to the count of 8. You will feel your lower hand still moving in the same way but the top hand does not move as much.
> When you are ready lower your hand and keep breathing like this for as long as you like.

Yoga breathing is a wonderful tool to turn to at any time in your day when you need a reset, to relax, to calm yourself, to focus and ground. 🙏
