What does it mean to chant from your heart?

If you have attended our kirtan or yoga asana sessions, you might have heard us say, “chant from your heart.” But have you ever stopped to think what that really means?

The first step is to listen to the mantra attentively. Listening is the active attempt to focus your attention. Instead of letting the mind wander, gently bring it to the sound of the mantra. You are hearing the melody, the tempo, and most importantly, the sacred sound. These transcendental mantras are endowed with unlimited spiritual potency, beyond the comprehension of our material mind.

So I welcome you to open your ears, take the mantras in through your ears and your mind, into your heart. The ear is like a funnel for sound vibration. Allow the mantras to pour through the funnel and enter your heart.

And when we chant, we are not singing because we have a good voice or to impress someone. We don’t want it to be mechanical. We want to try and chant these names of the Supreme Person—our eternal friend and well-wisher—in a mood of humility, surrender and love. We meditate on the sound as we sing, and let all our temporary worries and concerns float away, and rest in the reservoir of spiritual love and comfort.

Join us every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday for beautiful kirtan meditation.

I made this dessert for our last Sunday night kirtan meditation supper and it was a taste sensation which everyone loved.
Easy to make and great to have the video to make sure I had the right texture.

I highly recommend trying it out as having some homemade, fresh, rich and satisfying treats in the fridge that are made with love beats store bought anytime!

I didn’t have any maca powder or chocolate chips and I used carob powder instead of cocoa powder and they were still amazing. Omitting the chocolate and cocoa and using carob instead makes them more harmoniums with a yoga lifestyle. 🙏

Rest Your Heart in Kirtan Meditation

05/10/2025

I hope to see you tonight for long weekend kirtan 🙏 Meditation is always the best way to spend a Sunday evening 😍

30/09/2025

I hope you can join me for yoga and meditation tonight (Tuesday, September 30th)!

It’s my birthday today, and I was reflecting on the mindset of a birthday. Instead of thinking about me trying to get something or enjoy something, it’s an opportunity to:

- Make more of a commitment to my spiritual practices. When I do my daily japa meditation, I can do it more heartfelt and put my heart and soul into it.

- Making today a day to serve God and to serve others. That desire brought such instant joy to my heart.

It just shows that when your intention are connected to and aligned with your innate spirituality, then you can experience true inner peace and happiness.

Wrong-Way Riegals...Am I Running Towards the Right Goals?

Riegals got the football and ran full speed, with crowds roaring, towards the goal. He was so excited when he touched the football down thinking he’d done this great thing – until he found out he had run the wrong way and won the game for the other team.

It’s a powerful image. Likewise, are we intentionally heading in a certain direction, putting in a lot of effort to achieve a certain goal, but haven’t deeply considered: Am I actually heading in the right direction? Will the path I’m on truly lead to peace, satisfaction, and happiness?

Our society unreservedly teaches us through all forms of media, educational institutions and cultural norms, that the goal of life is material prosperity and sense enjoyment. If we just work hard enough, we’re told, we’ll be happy.

But do we question if achieving my goals will actually bring the happiness I am hoping for? Or am I sprinting toward a finish line that will only leave me frustrated and disappointed? Even then, do I have the courage to question what was that all for? Did I waste my time, my life? I’m no happier now than I was before I achieved these goals – and the carrot is still dangling in front of me encouraging me to get more!

However, there is a much smaller part of society encouraging us to pursue a different goal of life: to seek a more spiritual life as our priority to achieve real happiness.

These are two fundamentally different paths in life: material and spiritual.

We would do well to consider where each path leads. Which path creates a greater sense of peace, meaning, contentment, happiness and harmony?

Do we stop and look closely at the personal and social ramifications of following either path? Or do we just follow the path that society pushes, and most people follow? Will we be courageous enough to question our life’s path even if it goes against the grain?

If we look at the lives of the successful people of each path, in which do we see more happiness, kindness, love, peace, contentment, fulfillment?

I encourage you to make it your goal to grow stronger spirituality, the path towards real and lasting happiness, unconditional love and freedom. To develop a greater understanding of your true nature, of your relationship with this world, with others and with the Supreme Soul.

If you would like to learn more about this spiritual path, please reach out to me here on social media, via email, or in person at our studio.

Recipe for Peace 🕊💛

In a world where conflict often seems overwhelming, it is easy to feel saddened or disheartened. But importantly, each one of us can make a difference. Every day presents an opportunity to bring more kindness, respect, and love into our lives and into our relationships. As Martin Luther King, Jr. famously stated:

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

So when we are challenged, it may not be easy—but we can rise above the challenges with the understanding of this quote and thereby make a difference, big or small, to create more peace in our own lives, in this world, and grow spiritually happier and stronger.

Transcendental sound (the spiritual mantras we use) are the perfect purifying agent to wash away darkness and hate, and allow the light and love that is our very nature to shine through.
