šŸŽ‰ Just Discovered: Raising S*xually Intelligent Kids by Anisa Varasteh! šŸ“˜

Parents, carers, and educators—trust me, this book is a game-changer. Anisa Varasteh, a Clinical S*xologist and President of the Society of Australian S*xologists, has created a warm, practical guide to help us have better, more open conversations about s*xuality with our kids.

What makes this book so powerful?

It breaks down why talking about s*xuality is so important—but also why it can feel so tricky.

It’s packed with over 20 hands-on worksheets and real responses to tough questions teens often ask.

It shows how honest chats build trust, not confusion or pressure—kids don’t rush into things just because we talk about them.

šŸ’” Why it stands out:

Evidence-based approach grounded in clinical expertise.

Skilled support that helps develop emotional intelligence, healthy boundaries, and real-life decision-making.

Suitable for all caregivers—not just parents!

If you're looking for a supportive guide to raise your kids with confidence, curiosity, and clarity around s*xuality, this is it. Let’s help them grow into thoughtful, self-aware young people!

šŸ—£ļø Let's Talk: Does S*x Ed Actually Speed Things Up or Slow It Down?

We’ve all heard the worry: ā€œIf you teach teens about s*x, won’t they just want to try it sooner?ā€ Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case—actually the opposite is true!

āœ… Teens who get honest, real talk about saying no and using protection tend to wait longer for their first s*xual experience—and when they do, they’re more likely to be prepared and take it seriously.

S*xuality education gives teens:
A safe space to ask questions,
Tools to handle real-world situations,
And confidence to make choices they’re comfortable with.

Let’s drop the judgment and start trusting young people with info—not misinformation.

šŸ’¬ What do you think? Can open, honest s*x ed help our kids grow up safer and more confident?

Raising S*xually Intelligent Kids provides real world examples on talking to teens about s*xuality.

As a parent, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means to have the talk with our kids—and realising it’s not just one conversation, but a series of them.

S*x, consent, safety, emotions, identity, relationships, respect… there’s so much they need to hear from us.

But it’s hard to know where to start, what to say, or how to keep the door open for honest conversations as they grow.

So I’m opening this up:
What do you think are the most important topics we need to talk to our kids about when it comes to s*x and relationships?
What’s worked for you? What do you wish you’d known earlier?

Raising S*xually Intelligent Kids provides information on age-appropriate s*xuality education.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how important healthy boundaries are in all kinds of relationships—romantic, family, friendships, even at work. Boundaries aren’t about pushing people away—they’re about creating space for mutual respect and emotional safety.

Whether it’s saying ā€œnoā€ without guilt, asking for what you need, or recognising your limits, setting boundaries is one of the most loving things you can do for yourself and others.

I’m diving into this topic and would love to hear you

Raising S*xually Intelligent Kids provides information on role modelling healthy relationship boundaries.

šŸŒˆšŸ’ When you hear the words s*x and s*xuality, what comes to mind?

For many of us, our understanding of s*x and s*xuality is shaped by limited definitions — often reduced to attraction or behavior. But it is far more complex. It includes identity, desire, emotional connection, personal values, and even how we see ourselves in the world.

So here's a gentle challenge:
Could your definition be too narrow?
And if so, what might open up if you started thinking about s*x and s*xuality more broadly?

Raising S*xually Intelligent Kids provides information on the definition of s*xuality.

šŸ§ šŸ’¬ Where Do Kids Learn About S*x?

It’s a question more parents, caregivers, and educators are asking — and for good reason.

Kids are growing up in a world full of information, but not all of it is accurate, age-appropriate, or healthy. From TikTok to playground whispers, from YouTube videos to health class (if they even have one), our kids are forming ideas about s*x, relationships, consent, and bodies earlier than ever.

So the real question becomes: Do we want them learning from the internet... or from us?

This isn’t about "the talk" — it’s about ongoing, honest conversations that build trust and help them make sense of what they see and hear.

Raising S*xually Intelligent Kids provides information on how to find accurate s*xuality information.

🌱 Let’s talk about something that shapes us more than we often realise: the messages we received about s*x growing up.

Whether it was silence, shame, fear, curiosity, jokes, or open conversation, we all got some kind of message about s*x as kids. And those messages—spoken or unspoken—stick with us. They influence how we view our bodies, relationships, boundaries, and even our self-worth.

As adults, it's worth asking:
🧠 What did I learn about s*x growing up?
ā“ Where did those messages come from?
šŸ’¬ How are they still showing up in my life today?

Let’s start the conversation. šŸ’¬

šŸ“± Kids are growing up in a digital world—and they’re being exposed to media earlier than ever.

Whether it’s violent content, unrealistic body standards, or explicit s*xual material, what they see shapes how they think about themselves, others, and relationships.

The solution isn’t panic—it’s preparation. Let’s start the conversations early, build critical thinking, and create space for kids to ask questions.

They’re seeing more than we think. Let’s make sure they’re also hearing from us. šŸ§ šŸ’¬

Being a teen is confusing. Being a parent of a teen? Even more so—especially when it comes to conversations about s*xuality.

But here’s the truth: your teen wants a safe place to ask questions, figure things out, and feel seen. You don’t need all the answers. You just need to be open, curious, and judgment-free.

Let them know: "You can talk to me." That simple message can make all the difference. šŸ’¬šŸ’™

✨ It’s time to expand the conversation around s*xuality education. Yes, it’s about safety, consent, and anatomy—but it should also be about pleasure.

Understanding pleasure helps people connect with their bodies, make informed choices, and build healthier, more respectful relationships.

Let’s normalize talking about what feels good—not just what to avoid. Pleasure belongs in the conversation. šŸ’¬šŸ’›

Let’s Talk About Pleasure — Yes, That Kind. ā¤šŸ„³

When we think about s*xuality education, we often focus on the basics: anatomy, STIs, birth control, consent. All essential topics. But there’s one piece that’s usually left out—and it matters more than we think: pleasure.

Teaching about pleasure isn’t about encouraging s*x—it’s about helping people understand their bodies, their boundaries, and what healthy, respectful intimacy can actually look like. When we leave pleasure out of the conversation, we leave out the why behind so many choices.

Pleasure - It belongs in the conversation.

How Many Teens Are Actually Having S*x? šŸ¤” Let’s Talk About It.

When it comes to teens and s*x, there’s a lot of guessing—and a lot of myths. Some parents assume ā€œeveryone’s doing it.ā€ Others believe their teen would never go there. The truth? It’s somewhere in between.

What matters most isn’t just whether they’re having s*x—but whether they feel safe, informed, respected, and supported in their choices.
