There is a recurrent theme I am seeing each and every week in practice ( I am a pregnancy chiropractor).
And that is women not being happy with their choice of birth provider or location. And feeling they were never really told the options. It is frustrating and disheartening for them ... and me.
I say to my clients ( I am also a doula and childbirth educator) I can walk you through three different doors and you can have entirely different pregnancy, labour and birth experiences depending on whether you have a private midwife, are in our public system or chose a private OB in a private hospital. All choices will give you "healthy baby - healthy mum" but how you are made to feel in each experience will differ.
And this is a personal thing. Some people feel safer in hospital with the known certainty of an elected Csection, some will find a hospital terrifying, and many will be somewhere in between.
But what is tricky is thinking that you can change your providers way of doing things.
You can't really.
Its like trying to order a lasagna in a Greek restaurant. You can get moussaka but its not exactly what you wanted - lol. Or trying to change later, some time you can but sometimes the options are not available.
We learn A LOT in our first pregnancy for sure. BUT I dont want you to have a have a "do over" with a second pregnancy to get it right. I have created two things to help you.
Firstly a blog on the different options available in Adelaide as birth choices. This is here: https://nestbirthandwellbeing.com.au/.../choosing-your.../
The second is a pregnancy planning call or visit with me. We can discuss what a safe and beautiful birth means to you and work out where you will feel the most supported. As a doula I have supported women's choices from elected Csections to Private hospitals with private OBs. This is not discussing my doula care ( although we can if you wish) but a chance to focus on your birth strategy.
You can book that here: https://nestbirthandwellbeing.com.au/pregnancy-planning/
I am here to support you in have the most beautiful experience possible. And it is possible. xoxo much love, Amanada xoxo
