Shall I catch you up on what I’ve been doing these past few months? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, it’s been such a calming and grounding few months for me, with the news of our baby on the way (two months to go!), and also professionally, too! While I’ve not been on socials, I’ve been enjoying my day to day life - literally taking each moment as it comes - and can’t believe how quickly time is flying by 💫⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve studied Pilates to be a teacher (yay!), and have been teaching my .self meditations online and in person at an amazing studio in Karratha, as well as seeing my lovely clients 1:1 before baby girl arrives earth side 🌿⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve also gone back to my roots as a writer, which I so deeply enjoy, and have created my Purely Sammy online space and blog where I will be sharing my beauty wisdom and knowledge, lifestyle articles, as well as my personal musings and moments - with a special spot for sharing pieces of me as I embark on the journey of motherhood ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These last few months have allowed for me to go through a deep recalibration of self, and while it hasn’t been easy or wonderful all the time, I really have enjoyed this rebirth; allowing myself time to listen to what my mind and body need, enjoying the town I live in more and connecting to what lights me up. I’ve enjoyed stepping into this next book of self, and will be sharing it all here, as myself, being purely me. Thanks for coming along 😊️🤍 xx

Yesterday was my 34th birthday 🎈My 33rd year was incredibly growth-filled & by far the most challenging, yet allowed me grace to deeply embody who I am, celebrate my past & look forward to my future with my newly etched in wisdom. Each moment has sculpted me into who I am today & uncovered so much that about myself that I was hiding within my assumed identity shell. I'd like to share a few of my growth moments with you...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🎈Moving to a new regional town (we left two days after my birthday last year), that I'd never seen or been to before; adapting every part of my identity & discovering my inner strength to put myself forward while equally embracing the stillness of my own company & environment. We truly are our own homes.🎈Relishing in the sweet moments I shared when loved ones came to visit, when visiting my home back in Perth & exploring our new local environment. Perspective really does shift when you're faced with new scenery. I cherish every ounce of time spent with the people I love & the places I have been to. Appreciation for the 'now' has been my biggest personal mantra.🎈Acceptance & admiration of my body. My body has been through A LOT in this past year. It has held me, comforted me, strengthened me, pushed me & held another for a sweet moment. It's recovered, rebuilt itself, & most importantly it taught me to communicate with it, to love moving & looking at it. I am at one with it now, truly. 🎈Acceptance of life's ebbs & flows. So much is out of our control & while we are fortunately blessed with free will, there is still so much unknown we face which is equally frustrating as it is expansively exciting. I've learnt to lean into each season of life, even the s**ttiest of s**t ones. For those moments end up uncovering & releasing more of my potential in this lifetime than I realised I held so deep within, which is its own moment of celebration in a very unique way. Use this moment, now, to reflect on your own moments. How have you grown?

One of the most simple & effective elements you should incorporate into your daily self-connection practice is journaling. Why? It's not overwhelming, it can be done any time of the day, plus it is free. All you need is time with your thoughts, a pen, paper or your use notes on your phone ✨📝⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Journaling & free writing is an incredible way to really delve into what's lying deeper in your mind, body & soul. The trick is to not over think it, use your prompts (questions) to get you started if needed & just let the words flow through you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A lot of my clients get daunted by the expectations of what 'should' come through for them during their journaling practices because there is the broader assumption that you're always going to have a huge breakthrough from the practice & when you don't, well, you must be doing it wrong (you're not!). Last week we were in Broome, WA - my most favourite place in the whole world. I spent a lot of my teenage years in Broome visiting family, and it holds such a special place in my heart. Every time I go back, it fills me up; my energy, my heart, my gratitude. I always wake up just before sunrise so I can walk along Cable Beach for the sunrise, and if I'm lucky to be there at the right time of the month, the moon set. It's magical 💫⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When we were two years old and younger, we didn't realise we had our own identity - we just were, and were part of our mother/father/direct career. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

From then to the age of six years old we started to form our own identity based on our direct findings, perspective and experiences. Everything was about us and for us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When we were six years old, we started to feel the need to connect with others. The need to fit in grew stronger in us. We adapted our identity to seek community and belonging with others. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

✧ Dry Body Brush: Yep, I'm banging on about this again...because it's legit. It works twofold: by exfoliating your skin to be smooth, healthy and glowing and by needing you to connect into the 'now' with focus on each part of the body you're brushing. I can't explain to you how much my relationship with self (read: confidence, body appreciation, connection to my inner voice) changed when I started doing this, and consistently. ✧ Write: Write it all down. When we express everything that's going on, we are able to acknowledge it, release it and - here's the best part - make way for new, more expansive energies, interactions and dreams to come into our sphere of self because we've learnt to recognise our own voice vs the voice of our monkey mind. I have one client who has a fear of writing anything down due to one of her past lives where she was terribly scolded for writing notes at school. We've worked through it and she now loves writing down her thoughts, emotions and goals. Anything she doesn't want to hold on to for 'that fear creeping back in' she puts the words written into a ceramic dish and gently lights it on fire to release it physically and energetically. ✧ Mirror Work: How many times a day are you face to face with yourself in the mirror? It's actually crazy how many times we are seeing our lovely reflections, but we never actually make the most of this time positively. Each time you're in front of the mirror, be it for your skin care, teeth cleaning, washing your hands throughout the day, whenever it is and you're looking back at yourself I want you to REALLY look back at yourself. I don't know about you, but for me I usually find the need to take a second for myself every so often to 'wooosaaaahhhh' my mood out of a rut or to shift energy that is distracting me on some level; be it thoughts, restlessness, feelings or energetic residue from interactions with others. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being the beach loving girl that I am, the ocean has always been my go-to spot to release what I need to recenter, find my calm and inner regeneration. So, when I'm unable to get to the ocean to wash my cares away physically, I've created a quick little visual breathing exercise for myself to calm my mind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1. Wherever you are sit, be still (even for two minutes) and close your eyes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Take three deep, long breaths. Down to your belly. Feel the expansion...and the release with each breath. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. After your third breath, imagine yourself standing on the beach - at your favourite ocean spot - with your toes on the edge of the water, just where the waves wash up on the sand to cover your feet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. For each of your breaths in I want you to bring your negative thoughts and feelings to your mind as the water washes over your toes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀..breathe in...water comes toward you and covers your feet...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. For each breath out, I want you to release that negative thought or feeling and feel it wash out and away into the ocean with the water that is rushing away from you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀..breathe out...water is pulled away from you...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Repeat until you feel calm, revitalised and at peace ☁️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each new wave is a fresh, clean and grounding one. There is no need to worry about the negativity released coming back with each breath and wave. Once it's released, the water will take it away. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
