Many of you may be aware that the Government recently announced the Thriving Kids Initiative, a program designed to provide support to young children with ‘mild to moderate’ developmental delays and autism (their wording - not mine!!). As a replacement for NDIS EI funding for this group of children from the middle of next year. It is unclear what this will look like or how it will affect individual children, their families or therapy providers. There is a survey available for parents/carers to complete - open until the end of next week. I would urge all families to consider taking a few minutes to have their say by completing the survey.

On 2 September 2025, the Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Mark Butler MP, referred an inquiry into the Thriving Kids initiative to the House Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Disability. The Committee would be grateful to receive submissions addressing the terms

There are many changes happening in and around the NDIS space at the moment, with a planned shift to yet to be defined Foundational Supports for many current participants. To have a say head to https://engage.dss.gov.au/foundational-supports/
There are questionnaires and also opportunities to join in online consultation sessions for families, disability providers and other people working within this space.

As many of you may be aware, there are changes coming to the NDIS and the way early intervention/foundational support services are accessed and funded. Please consider completing this short survey to have your say in how foundational supports would work best for you and your family.

We’re on a mission to understand better what families truly need and value in foundational support services. Our families' and participants' insights are crucial in guiding our advocacy efforts to ensure future services for children under 9 are going to meet needs.

Please share this poster in your clinics, encourage your clients to fill in the form (it takes about five minutes and is anonymous) and share it with other practices in your area. The more data we can get, the stronger the message.
