Thanks to Motion Specialties Queensland for coming out to talk to our team today. It's always great to get to know our local equipment reps and keep our knowledge up to date on what's out there, so we can do the best for the children and families we see.

Last week we said good-bye to our amazing Speech Pathologist Chloe, as she departs to The States for an overseas adventure. Chloe has been with us since she graduated and we have loved watching her grow into the experienced therapist she has become. We know there will be some incredibly lucky children and families in Boston who will get to have Chloe as their Speechie. We wish you all the best on your adventures Chloe and hope to see you back at The Hub one day in the future.

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫?👂World Hearing Day was yesterday 3rd March!

Even a minimal or mild hearing loss can significantly affect a child’s success in school, their interactions with peers, and their behaviour if left unaddressed.

Many children don’t have their hearing screened every year, so it’s important to learn the signs of hearing loss. If you notice that your child does any of the following, take them to an audiologist for a hearing evaluation:
- turns the TV volume up to a level that is uncomfortable for others
- says, “Huh?” or “What?” often
- has academic difficulties that can’t be attributed to other causes
- complains of ringing, buzzing, or other noises in their ears

Did you know 1 in 14 people have DLD, an invisible life-long condition?
DLD is a diagnosis given to a person who has difficulty talking and/or understanding language including difficulties with speaking, listening, writing and reading.

People with DLD can succeed in life, with the right supports that meet their unique strengths and areas of need.
We love supporting our Child Development Hub children who have DLD and working with their families and schools to advocate for them. We love their many strengths - they are compassionate, thinkers, creative, social and unique 👏

Happy Speech Pathology Week! 🗣📖📱👀👄👋🔣🫧

This year's theme "Communicate Your Way" celebrates all the different ways we communicate - gesture, touch, body movement, behaviour, eye gaze, facial expression, symbols/pictures, vocalisations, signing, written word, and verbal speech...and more!

Each client and day is unique - helping children with their speech articulation, stuttering, building their sentence length and grammar, language comprehension, helping them to tell narratives and stories, working on feeding and chewing skills, reading and writing, understanding of social interaction, and any communication skill that will make a difference to their life!

We love the many unique and individuals ways that our children communicate and helping them on their journey to becoming autonomous communicators. It's a privilege to be part of your communication journey 😊
