What is self care?
💥Let's explore...
🔸️Self care is about nurturing yourself with what matters to you!
🔸️Self care is about rejuvenating yourself
What fills your cup so you feel good?
🔸️Self care is learning to say NO when it is best for you. We do not have to say yes to everyone and everything.
🔸️Self care embraces and prioritises total wellbeing
- physical, mental, spiritual and emotional wellbeing.
Here are a few tips:
🌳 taking time in nature -this benefits all of us, whether you like or not!
📱Leave your phone at home or at least don't touch it.
Go into nature, a park, the beach, a river, mountains wherever you can get to..even your backyard.
And immense yourself in a sensory experience.
👃Smell
🦻Listen
👀Look
😊 Feel each sensation and how the sunshine, rain, air feels on your face and body.
Touch the earth.. with your bare feet🦶, or hands ✋️
What do you hear, smell, see and feel?
🛁 Take a bath or a
🚿 shower. This is not only cleaning the body, this also helps cleanse the soul.
Turn it into a "Zen meditation" by focusing on the water and how that feels on each part of your body.
✨️This brings you into the present moment and allows you to find out how your body is feeling and where it might be asking for some help.
🫒Eating well
We have all heard this over and over! Blah, blah, blah 🙄
Let's do an experiment...
When you are eating anything...healthy or not, ask your body how it feels.
Sit with it for a moment and you will know what your body wants more of.
💃 Movement.
Why am I not saying exercise? Asking people to move is more effective than telling them to exercise as we all conjure up some extreme style of exercise to be healthy.
Movement is healthy too!
🕺Try dancing around your lounge room or in your backyard yard. Loose yourself in the music 🎶 🎵
Or
Play with your kids at the park.
Or
Maybe you are struggling to move due to pain... take 3 more steps, see if you can stand for one more minute, twist, do bending arches side to side. Whatever you can manage, do a little more day by day when you can.
💯 Most importantly honour your body every day. 🙏
If your body needs rest, give it rest where possible. Say NO and shut out the world when you need to.
📕 Gratitude journal 🙏
Write 3 things or draw 3 things you are grateful for every day in your journal.
Gratitude is a powerful way to keep you focused on the "good things" in your life.
When we focus on good things, it attracts more goodness to our lives.
💫 Take a few moments each day just to sit with yourself quietly and breathe.
💕 Show yourself compassion and kindness Talk kindly to yourself and be forgiving of your mistakes.
Mistakes are just teachable moments to learn from not hurt you.
