What is self care?

💥Let's explore...

🔸️Self care is about nurturing yourself with what matters to you!

🔸️Self care is about rejuvenating yourself
What fills your cup so you feel good?

🔸️Self care is learning to say NO when it is best for you. We do not have to say yes to everyone and everything.

🔸️Self care embraces and prioritises total wellbeing
- physical, mental, spiritual and emotional wellbeing.

Here are a few tips:

🌳 taking time in nature -this benefits all of us, whether you like or not!

📱Leave your phone at home or at least don't touch it.

Go into nature, a park, the beach, a river, mountains wherever you can get to..even your backyard.
And immense yourself in a sensory experience.

👃Smell
🦻Listen
👀Look

😊 Feel each sensation and how the sunshine, rain, air feels on your face and body.

Touch the earth.. with your bare feet🦶, or hands ✋️

What do you hear, smell, see and feel?

🛁 Take a bath or a
🚿 shower. This is not only cleaning the body, this also helps cleanse the soul.

Turn it into a "Zen meditation" by focusing on the water and how that feels on each part of your body.

✨️This brings you into the present moment and allows you to find out how your body is feeling and where it might be asking for some help.

🫒Eating well
We have all heard this over and over! Blah, blah, blah 🙄

Let's do an experiment...
When you are eating anything...healthy or not, ask your body how it feels.
Sit with it for a moment and you will know what your body wants more of.

💃 Movement.

Why am I not saying exercise? Asking people to move is more effective than telling them to exercise as we all conjure up some extreme style of exercise to be healthy.

Movement is healthy too!

🕺Try dancing around your lounge room or in your backyard yard. Loose yourself in the music 🎶 🎵
Or

Play with your kids at the park.

Or
Maybe you are struggling to move due to pain... take 3 more steps, see if you can stand for one more minute, twist, do bending arches side to side. Whatever you can manage, do a little more day by day when you can.

💯 Most importantly honour your body every day. 🙏

If your body needs rest, give it rest where possible. Say NO and shut out the world when you need to.

📕 Gratitude journal 🙏

Write 3 things or draw 3 things you are grateful for every day in your journal.

Gratitude is a powerful way to keep you focused on the "good things" in your life.

When we focus on good things, it attracts more goodness to our lives.

💫 Take a few moments each day just to sit with yourself quietly and breathe.

💕 Show yourself compassion and kindness Talk kindly to yourself and be forgiving of your mistakes.

Mistakes are just teachable moments to learn from not hurt you.

Scars Remain When Something Broken Is Mended, but Those Very Scars Can Give Birth to New Beauty.

In Japanese culture, there is an art form called Kintsugi, where broken pottery is mended with gold adhesive. The cracks are not concealed; instead, they are highlighted, making the object even more beautiful—transforming its brokenness into a unique identity. Relationships are much the same.

A relationship never truly breaks if there is a genuine willingness to mend it. Mistakes, pain, and scars may remain, but when touched with the gold of love, respect, and understanding, the bond can grow even deeper and more beautiful than before. All we need is patience, sincerity, and the willingness to mend the cracks the right way.

If love is true, then, like Kintsugi, the scars of brokenness will one day become the pride of the relationship.

I would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas holiday season.

For many it is a tumultuous time. We have hope in our hearts 💞 for love to shine bright ✨️amongst the inevitable squabbles.

It is usually the one who cares deeply for everyone regardless of past indiscretions that ends up feeling it the most.

Perhaps some call them the black sheep of the family or the one who thinks independently/differently or maybe the one who is told they are too sensitive 🥺

Whatever "label" others may try to put on you, please remember this....

I hope you take care of your heart. And that you let go of all of the people who play with it. The ones who take advantage of you, and your kindness, and mistake it for weakness. I hope you learn your worth.

I hope you take care of you heart. And above all things, you learn to let go. That you continue to allow light into your life. That you make room to love. That you make room for the people who deserve to be in your life. You just might not know them yet.

I hope you don't let the world make you become jaded. I know how difficult that can be when you've been through so much. Don't let all of the people who are reckless with the hearts of others convince you that yours isn't worthy of something beautiful, something real.

You are softhearted, you are rare. You let people in. You love with all you have. And you get taken advantage of for this. You try not to let it break you. But sometimes it sticks, sometimes it stings.

You have your days, where you just don't understand why you are never chosen. You wonder when things will get better. You question your heart.

But please, just hold on. You are stronger than anything that is trying to defeat you. And above all, you love the most. That is your power. That is your strength.

If you keep being you, you will make it. Keep pushing. Keep smiling. Keep being who you are. The world needs your heart in this world. It needs that beauty. Defend it. Protect it. And never stop believing in it's worth.🙏

And that’s a wrap!

Well, what an amazing night with a fantastic community gathered for one sole purpose... to give & support homeless women over 55 yrs.

THE FORGOTTEN WOMEN

406 attendees
344 cars
Over $325,000 raised.

This is such a horrible thing to happen to so many women through circumstances beyond their control. Many of whom are still working and living in their cars, not letting anyone know what has happened to them. And have given to others for most of their lives.

I am so proud to have helped raise awareness and funds for this group of vulnerable women and to have completed the challenge to get a better understanding of their struggles & strengths if only for one night.

During all of this giving, I also had to do something very important.... look after myself! Self care is vital when helping others!

You see, I have had the worst backpain ever in my life, for over 4 months now, amongst hip pain and knee pain that consumes me most days... and let's not forget the wonderful symptoms associated with menopause....
All of this making this challenge a little more challenging!

Can anyone relate?

Having these ailments while doing this also gave me the perspective of being in this situation with so much more to deal with.

* Getting in and put of the car without creating more pain.

* Once in the car, how do you get somewhat comfortable and to relax enough to drift off to sleep?

* constantly moving positions to try and alleviate some pain while only increasing another

* and let's not forget about this hot flushes that turn any cool air into blistering heat.

* if that isn't enough, , people are walking around you all the time, so being on high alert for that - safety is a basic human right! And absolutely vital to be able to manage stressors in out lives.

* And of course, once you do find a semi- comfy spot, the bladder decides it wants to take you out of the car to look after it!

So the cycle goes around and around all night long!

It certainly wasn't just me and there were others with their own challenges... but sadly the cycle of the night was similar.

I had thought for a long time that, if all else fails, I have my car to sleep in. We were also fortunate not to have our while lives packed in our car to give us even less room to try and get comfortable.

After last night, I have changed my opinion, no one should ever have to live like this in any country, let alone a country like Australia.

After quite a debate with myself about helping others and being aware of my self care needs to be able to manage my pain and not fall back to where I was only a few weeks ago, I lmade the difficult decision to leave at the first "requied time" and left around 4am, as did many others.

(You were able to leave at any time you choose throughout the night if you wanted to)

Getting home around 5am, I have never been so happy to see my house and my bed! Grateful to have a home and a bed and easy access to a bathroom.

All in all this challenge delivered the message perfectly! The idea was to be uncomfortable! To step into.this life and see what that meant for you and why we were supporting this venture.

I mistakenly prioritized our shared history over my own self-respect and happiness. It was a misstep to put the needs of those who didn't fully recognize my worth above my own.

Moving forward, I am committed to respecting and valuing myself more, choosing to be in places and with people who genuinely appreciate and honor my presence. 💐

Hello hello beautiful people.

I have decided to join this Live Like Her Challenge to raise funds for women over 55 living in their cars due to various factors, most not of their own choosing.

It is difficult for single women to be supported in much of our society, especially as we age gracefully. 🌻

Please help me do a little something to help raise some much needed funds for more support for the Forgotten Women just trying to get by.

We never know what is around the corner for any of us on this rollercoaster ride in life. ♥

Ahhhh! Day 7
I almost forgot to post this as it was home day!

I am so grateful 🙏 to have had this time. I am now ready to return home to my gorgeous fur baby and my amazing son!

There is nothing quite like home! Your own bed.🛌your own shower 🚿 it feels soooo good!

I did my colour for today before I packed up though.

🟣 Purple for developing mental clarity.

💜 I am chuffed as this was a part of what I was hoping for out of my week.

I am looking forward to seeing the fruits of my week unfold as life returns to normal 🙃

For now, I am going to take a little break from posting and get a few things done. ✔️

Day 6 - the last day of my self care retreat.

A bit of a different day, doing a bit of house keeping and bits n pieces getting ready to go home tomorrow morning.

I went for a lovely walk🚶‍♀️ along the beach and bathed myself in the glorious sunshine 🌞

I love the winter sun... it's when I appreciate the high crisp skies with whispy white clouds, the clear fresh waves of the ocean, 🌊 and warming glow of the sun.

In addition to the fabulous walk, I did a bit more self care & nourished myself with a face mask, a foot restoration nourishing treatment. Both feel amazing!

Along with curling up in the cold with a good book 📘

My colour today ended up being 2 colours. The cards came up together so I took it as s sign that I needed both.

🩵 Turquoise - Awaken your empathy.
I must say this one was a bit of a shock as I have given so much empathy over the years, I feel like it has taken so much from me from those who have not appreciated it.
I feel that this instance is to be used on another level,
We will let it unfold to see where.

🦪 Pearl - connect to the Divine. I understand this one very well and is underway.

Day 5 - mini retreat/self care week.

We are over the hump of my week away on a mini escape to take a bit of.time for me - doing what I want to do when I want to do.it. the only objections are from me. They can be strong too.

Adventures out today include the Eumundi markets and a walk on one of the most pristine beaches around - Noosa Beach. 🏖 I can't believe I got a carpark so close!

Of course I looked at my colour card this morning and was quite excited to get Green

🟢 it is great for revitalising your nervous system. Love it!

Our nervous system is so important and is constantly being bombarded with stimulus from everywhere and everything these days!

🐈 Think of a cat and how every hair on their bodies, & their whiskers are picking up vibrations from everything around them

We are too❗️

Some of us are more sensitive than others until we make an effort to feel & heal, then we can all focus on this tingling in our bodies.

It is all part of our nervous system to guide us on what is right for you & alert us to danger and love. 💫

✅️ Remember: your tingles are what's best for you, and you only. But once you learn how to use them, you feel others too.
