Our little friend spent her OT session with Ms Debbie diving into the Hungy Caterpillar Story! 🐛🦋
After listening to the story, her executive functioning and concentration were targeted as she recalled the story through visual retelling, sequencing and organising every event that happened! 🍎🍭🌿
From there our friend completed further activities such as threading the caterpillar to engage her fine motor skills ✍️🪡🧵
We love OT and the broad range of activities that are used to challenge our little ones to learn more! 🙌

A key strength of a multidisciplinary approach is the opportunity for joint sessions between the Occupational Therapist (OT)and Speech Pathologist (SP) 🤝 Working together in real time alongside the parent creates a cohesive and goal driven approach that supports more meaningful, functional and consistent outcomes for our clients!

Within this shared setting, our OT can target fine motor skills, hand strength, motor planning and sequencing, attention, resilience, sensory regulation, cause and effect understanding, confidence and social engagement through purposeful play like building and interacting with dinosaur models. At the same time, the SP supports communication development by focusing on receptive and expressive language, functional communication, joint attention, turn taking and social interaction. These skills are embedded within the shared activity to support generalisation and encourage use in everyday contexts ✨
