Esther got tricked this week into picking up 15 UNO cards against a school aged client. He got so excited and laughed so hard he almost cried, and said it was the highlight of his week.

MEET THE TEAM SHELL
I've had so much fun writing these bios for everyone else, it's now come to me, and it's really hard to write about yourself.. so here goes.
For those who don't know the story, I purchased Early Start in 2009 from my supervisor and mentor I had, as an eager 4th year student in 2003 at Forster community health centre (shout out to Rach!) and now today, I still love coming to work every day, hanging out with my fabulous crew of ladies and my wonderful clients. Early Start is a clinic that has been around for a long time and we have no intention of it going anywhere soon, no matter how doom and gloom the future is.
Early Start is a clinic you can trust and feel like you are listened to and supported. Where your children will make growth, change and thrive and love coming to their speech lessons. I love seeing and hearing stories of my old clients now thriving in highschool or public speaking requirements. I love being part of their story, knowing that Early Intervention was the key.
When not thinking about my clients, or what the team's next PD session will be about, or when not researching the changes to NDIS and how it may affect us, you will find Shell at the beach or in nature somewhere, with her two beautiful crazy boys and husband Mitch.

There's nothing better than trying out new toys and activities! Esther has been using the new literacy game called Blah Blah Phonics to target Phoneme Grapheme Correspondence, blending, segmenting and sound identification all at once. It's been great in sessions and it's always fun to get a little competitive with the older owls.

MEET THE TEAM - NEELY
Neely is our receptionist you may speak to when you call us. Neely is studying OT at Newcastle Uni ( we tried to persuade her to change to speech don't worry) and works at Early Start on her days off. Neely loves a chat and is so kind and caring with all our clients who come behind the counter for a sticker or a print out of a fighter jet or dinosaur. Neely works at both Lambton and Warners Bay offices and on her days off you will find her at the beach, eating gelato Messina or hanging out with her many friends, cousins and aunties. 💜

Back in March, Esther attended a UFLI foundations Literacy course in Sydney and LOVED it. She came back with so many new ideas for her clients on how to support literacy development and build their spelling and reading skills.

Jane Bottyan is a speech pathologist at Early Start and has been part of the family for 5 years now. Jane loves working with her school age clients and tweens, always creating engaging therapy sessions with her love for technology, movies and trivia. Jane loves telling us all about her adult children and their endevours and her love for the birds in her backyard she has now collected as new pets, as she fed them for a while back there, to conquer her fear of them flying near her head on school visits. Jane works 4 days a week from the Warners Bay office, and enjoys travelling to her schools to visit her clients when not in the office. 💜
