Is Your Posture Collapsing? 💻

If you work at a desk, there’s a good chance your posture slowly collapses as the day goes on - often without you noticing.

Here are 3 simple ways to protect your neck and back during the workday. Are you doing these:

✔ Keeping eyes level
Your eyes should be parallel with the ground. If you’re constantly looking down at your laptop, your neck is doing extra work.

✔ Using a supportive chair
A good chair supports your lower back and helps you sit upright without strain.

✔ Moving every 30–40 minutes
Your spine loves movement. Stand up, stretch, or walk for a minute - it makes a big difference.

Small changes during the day can help prevent neck pain, back pain, and postural fatigue.

-knee and hip mobility
-lower limb strength
-core strength
-balance

Making activities around the home and work a lot easier!

I do them at the gym as a warm up 2-3 sets of 20reps.

Give them a go!

Don’t let neck pain become a ”normal” part of your day!

Too often, poor posture that is sustained over time -in particular Forward Head Posture (FHP) leads to neck discomfort.

Poor neck posture places undue stress and strain on the neck structures and this can eventually lead to fatigue of muscles, 💪 joints, nerves etc, followed by discomfort!

Sounds familiar?

OUCH!😩

Poor posture can result in altered spinal alignment and biomechanics, if sustained for long enough.

If the underlying posture is not addressed (along with improving postural HABITS), then symptoms, such as stiffness and pain can become CHRONIC!

We see lots of people with such problems and our approach HELPS.

We address the cause of the problem and improve neck posture. One of the ways we do that is by using traction. A deep stretch on the Denneroll table is often part of our protocol of care.

Stronger Neck, Better Posture: Try This FHP Exercise!”

Mobility Monday: Strengthen Your Neck & Improve Forward Head Posture!

This week we’re showcasing one of our go-to exercises for Forward Head Posture (FHP) using the Prolordotic Neck Exerciser.

This very targeted exercise helps strengthen and gently stretch the neck to support better posture - and you can even improvise at home with an elastic exercise band wrapped in a towel.

We use this exercise as part of the Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) protocol of care, often as a warm-up before using the Denneroll orthotic. It’s a simple but powerful tool for improving neck mobility and posture.

Improve Neck Posture While you Wait in the Car! 🚗
(FHP Awareness Month)
If you spend time waiting in the car - for kids, appointments, or at traffic lights - here’s a quick and powerful way to activate the posterior neck muscles that help improve your posture.

How to do it:
🔹 Sit tall with your head against the headrest
🔹 Tuck your chin in slightly (no tilting)
🔹 Gently press the back of your head into the headrest
🔹 Hold for 10 seconds
🔹 Repeat 10 reps, and do 2 sets if you have time

This simple activation helps counteract Forward Head Posture, ease neck tension, and strengthen the muscles that support better alignment.

Great posture… even when you’re not moving!

Are Rounded Shoulders Ruining Your Posture?

Here are 3 quick exercises you can do anywhere - especially during a work break!

1️⃣ Slow shoulder circles (5–10 each way)
2️⃣ Pec stretch (20–30 sec each side)
3️⃣ Y-W-T with thumbs back to activate your mid-back

Great for opening the chest, improving posture and easing upper-back tension.

Your Pillow should support your neck and posture, helping you sleep more soundly and wake up feeling rejuvenated!

And NOT with an achey 😩 neck!

We often see people using the wrong type of pillow and if they are back sleepers with a high profile pillow, then this will only aggravate their neck issue.

This month we’re focusing on Forward Head Posture (FHP). We ask people who come in for care to bring their pillows into the office so we can have a discussion about sleep 😴 posture, mattresses 🛌 and pillows.

Too often we see people that suffer with FHP sleeping on a pillow that’s too high, further aggravating the neck alignment by bringing their head even more forward!

This is not going to help the person get the best long term results, hence we always chat about pillows and sleep posture.

We encourage a lower profile pillow for back sleepers, where the ear is more in alignment with the shoulder (not too far in front).

People get the BEST results when undue postural stressors, such as the use of the wrong 😑 pillow, are identified and corrected.

Ask your chiropractor to check your pillow if you haven’t already.
