Today’s National Day of Mourning is an opportunity for all Australians to unite, and honour and remember the 15 innocent people whose lives were lost in the Bondi terror attack on 14 December.
The theme the Chabad Community in Bondi have chosen is: ‘light will win, a gathering of unity and remembrance’.
The events at Bondi Beach, coming as they did at an event celebrating the first night of Hanukkah or Jewish ‘Festival of Lights’, had a profound effect on all of us at NextSense.
While we mourned, we were also inspired by the incredible acts of bravery of ordinary Australians, who thought nothing of their own safety as they helped the injured, and by the courage of our first responders.
Today is undoubtedly a day of great sadness for many, but it is also a day that all of us at NextSense will reflect on all that is good about our country and our fellow Australians.
Our thoughts remain with our Jewish community and all other people affected by this act of terror.
Light will triumph over darkness.
