On a bright beautiful Monday morning, Mark, Tom and Louise from Crows Nest Rotary Club attended the morning assembly at Cammeray Public School. They were greeted by a lot of eager faces and beautiful music from the school band and Welcome to Country. After listening to the school notices Tom made a short speech to the students of “the best school on the North Shore” and presented a cheque to the principal for the Visual Arts Program This money was raised at the welcome back to school night were we sold 450 sausages in an hour and half. A new record for Rotary.
A great outcome with collaboration one sausage at a time.

Crows Nest Rotary with the assistance of Lane Cove Rotary donated a new Breast Biopsy Driver System to the RNS Breastscreen Sevice

This advanced piece of equipment is now operational at the Breastscreen Service at RNS Community Health Centre. The total cost of the system was $15,000, with the majority funded by Crows Nest Rotary, and additional contributions from a District Grant as well as Lane Cove Rotary.

Members from both Crows Nest Rotary and Lane Cove Rotary recently visited the health centre to view the new device in action and to better understand its impact on patient care.

Previously, breast biopsies at the centre required a large biopsy machine and the patient undergoing a mammogram, a process that could be uncomfortable for patients. In contrast, the newly acquired biopsy driver is a small handheld device that operates with ultrasound guidance, enabling a more comfortable and efficient procedure for patients.
The new system is also more environmentally friendly, replacing a large tub and tubing setup with a small plastic container, roughly the size of a medicine cup, thereby significantly reducing clinical waste.

If you’d like to be involved in this sort of fund-raising activity and join a non-religious club based around fellowship and service, find the Crows Nest club online and come along to one of our fortnightly meetings. www.crowsnestrotary.org.au

Rotary Australia has a long history of supporting projects in Timor-leste, and the Rotary Club of Mosman has helped support the "Rotary Program of Enrichment ("RYPEN") and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards ("RYLA") training programs for youths and young adults which have run there for more than 15 years.

In 2023, The Rotary Club of Mosman raised the necessary funds, and working with a team of Timor-Leste RYLA alumni, commenced work on the design and construction of a pre-school in an area where no pre-school facilities existed. Building was completed mid 2024 and the school opened with 50 students January 2025, receiving accreditation from the Timor-Leste Ministry of Education late 2025.

Building on the success of that project we have launched a program to build a primary school in the same district, supporting of course graduates from the pre-school program.

Our fundraising launch will be at the Mosman Art Gallery in March. We would be delighted for anyone who is able to join us for the event.

Dear President Mark and members of the Rotary Club of Crows Nest

Thank you so much for having me at your Giving Night last evening. It was a pleasure to be part of such a special night that so clearly reflected the heart and generosity of your club.

I am deeply grateful for the very generous donation to the Australian Rotary Health partner project. Thank you for your continued commitment to mental health research and support — it truly makes a meaningful difference.

It was also wonderful to see so many worthy organisations supported on the night, including CareFlight, The Rotary Foundation, and many others. Your club’s generosity and your active engagement with and support for projects throughout the year are something to be proud of and to celebrate.

Thank you again for your hospitality, your kindness, and for the positive impact you continue to have in your community and beyond.
