Mater Hospital ALS Course Centre ALS1 (Advanced Life Support) is a one day course that equips medical personnel with the skills and confidence to approach the unwell patient.

The ALS1 is a one day course accredited by the Australian Resuscitation Council that equips medical and nursing personnel with the skills and confidence to approach the unwell patient. The areas covered are causes and prevention of cardiac arrest, diagnosing and managing the obstructed airway, assessing the unwell patient using the A to E approach, safe and prompt defibrillator use and finally how to be an effective Team Leader in an arrest situation. It is a course that is eminently suitable for nursing staff in the critical care areas, house doctors, general practitioners and staff specialists who wish to gain skills in this area.
