Did you know that around 1,650 Australians are currently waitlisted for a transplant?

Today is Jersey Day, and our team gathered on the front lawn in their favourite jerseys to show support for this important cause. Jersey Day encourages conversations about organ and tissue donation, which has the power to save many lives.

The day was inspired by Nathan Gremmo, who at just 13 gave the gift of life to six people through organ donation.

Our team looks forward to supporting this initiative every year 💛💙

The San welcomed spring with our latest BBQ with the Boss 🧅☀️

Team members from across the hospital came together with our executive team outside the Clifford Building to enjoy a sunny lunch. The event was all about connection, with some catching up over a meal outdoors and others taking a plate back to share with their colleagues.

We are excited to announce a new partnership with The University of Newcastle, Australia, to provide student placements at the San in support of the Graduate Certificate in Midwifery (Re-entry to Practice) Program.

The University of Newcastle’s program offers a pathway to regain midwifery registration, enabling graduates to return to practice as Registered Midwives with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia under AHPRA.

San Maternity is proud to support this pathway to re-registration and will offer practice placements for up to 12 experienced midwives completing the program in 2026.

Open information sessions will be held on Monday, 15 September and Thursday, 25 September.

Happy Cancer Nurses Day! 💙

Today, we celebrated our incredible cancer nurses, including our Day Infusion Centre team, our cancer surgery and care ward nurses, and our Cancer Patient Navigators.

The Cancer Nurses Day theme is “strong, skilled, specialised” and we are proud to say our cancer nurses truly embody these qualities, helping the San earn its reputation as one of the best in NSW for the seventh year in a row.

Clare Lumley, Chief Operations & Nursing Executive, and James House, Director of Cancer Services, took time to personally thank our cancer nurses for the amazing care they provide every day.

Look Good Feel Better - Australia at the San 🤩

Each month, our Cancer Support Centre hosts the Look Good Feel Better workshops, designed to help manage the physical, emotional, and social impacts of cancer treatment. These sessions provide a welcoming space where participants can connect with others in similar situations, forming friendships and support networks that offer comfort and encouragement.

The workshops are open to all Australians undergoing any type of treatment for any type of cancer.
