About 1 in 7 people in WA live in poverty.

Sadly, it touches many lives in WA — especially older people, single parents, those living on their own, Aboriginal Australians, those with long-term health conditions, less education and/or are living in a poorer region.

The disparities in health outcomes are incredibly real, with those living in poverty being far more likely to face physical and mental health issues. And accessing affordable care can be tricky too.

At Luma, many of our services are free or low-cost. Visit luma.org.au to explore what’s available for you, or call our lovely team on 6330 5400.

We stand with these incredible organisations who're working to end poverty across Australia — like No Place for Poverty and The Valuing Children Initiative - VCI ❤️

Weight gain in menopause is real. ❣️

Your body goes through a huge physiological change, and it’s always a matter of self-discipline.

Our wonderful general practitioner, Dr Danel, is now working from our Joondalup clinic, supporting women to feel their best by tailoring health options and weight management pathways that genuinely suit them. 💙

We remember and honour them all. 🧡Sending our love today to anyone who has experienced this loss.

The heavy lifting of being a carer 🧡

Thank you Rose for shining a light on the often hidden work of a parent/carer supporting someone through an eating disorder.

We were proud to be part of the FASD symposium recently. 💫

Our team presented on how we support mothers with alcohol use, prevent future pregnancies exposed to alcohol and other drugs, and support mothers to make and maintain changes collectively - through our Nurturing Families program.

The event was led by the Western Australian Mental Health Commission, and our team left the two-day symposium feeling inspired by the incredible conversations in the room.

We truly feel fortunate to work in this space - making lifechanging differences for mothers, children, and families. 🧡

There is some magic - in one of the hardest things to go through as a parent 💗

Alison is our new carer supporter, who uses her real-life experience to support parents, families, partners and siblings on how to support their loved ones toward eating disorder recovery. She shared her wisdom with us for .

Every year, Midland NAIDOC is a true highlight for our team, and this year was no exception. 🖤❤️💛

The performances were breathtaking, especially MIDN MARR Dreaming and Shakaylee Wallam.

We loved connecting with you all and sharing the programs and support we offer for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall. The rock art with stencils and play dough was such a hit that we even made a quick Kmart run halfway through the day to restock!

Building healthier workplaces, together 🤝

Recently, we've been inspired by the momentum building around mental health and wellbeing across different industries. It's been truly inspiring to connect and see what's possible when we create change for good, together.

Our health promotor, Angie, walked away energised from our stress and hormones workshop with Women in Surveying & Spatial Sciences WA (run by Surveyors WA) where the engagement was exceptional.

Then, our health promotors connected with Curtin STEM Outreach where we explored allyship, disrupting the norm, and workplace stress for women in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

And last week, we crossed paths with Mates in Construction at Train & Retain who're an amazing team making waves in mental health initiatives in their industry.

This causes us to stop and think about the impact we can make when we move forward together to build healthier, happier workplaces. Special thanks to these organisations, it was a joy connecting with you! 🧡

Spotting the signs of su***de risk is an essential life skill. 🎗️

We recently ran two su***de alertness training sessions (one for staff, one for community) to deepen our grasp on how we listen, how we guide people toward help and how we pick up warning signs.

Our team completed their empowering two-day training with all smiles around.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined our community session too - we look forward to running another in 2026. 💫

An ESSENTIAL part of women's health is breast awareness.

This is simply about knowing what's normal for your breasts, noticing any changes/irregularities, and getting regular screenings from ages 40-75.

If in doubt, get them checked out. 🍒
