Most of our worry isn’t actually rooted in the present.
It’s either projecting into the future — imagining worst-case scenarios, rehearsing conversations that haven’t happened, or trying to control outcomes that don’t exist yet.
Or it’s dwelling on the past — replaying mistakes, wishing things had gone differently, or holding onto regret.
Both directions burn up a huge amount of mental and emotional energy.
It’s like revving an engine while the car is still in neutral — lots of noise, zero movement.
And while our minds wander to the past and future, the present moment quietly slips away.
Yet the present is the only point where we have real power — the only place where we can make decisions, take meaningful action, or change course.
When we catch ourselves spiralling into “what ifs” or “if onlys,” the most empowering thing we can do is gently bring our focus back to now.
Because now is where clarity lives.
Now is where solutions are created.
And now is where life is actually happening.
