Check out these amazing illustrations of rope assisted asana!
They come from the SRITATTVANIDHI manuscript and can be found in The Yoga Tradition of the Mysore Palace by Norman Sjoman. It is believed that the SRITATTVANIDHI may have been one of the texts that inspired Krishnamacharya, who included ropes and other gymnastics equipment hanging from the ceiling of his yogasala.
Thank you to for bringing these amazing images to my awareness, and if anyone else knows of any early ‘aerial’ or fabric and rope assisted asana please let me know!

🌱 I felt calmer as soon as arrived at 😍
🌺 Join me (Jo) and Meah for an Aerial Yoga and Meditation Retreat this July 15-19 - head to bio for more information!
🌿 The architecture and focus on living in harmony with nature, the lush gardens, beautiful pool, and many quiet spots to relax all help set the scene for a peaceful and rejuvenating retreat!
🎍The beautiful bamboo yoga space overlooks fields and gardens, with views to the ocean and Mount Agung.

‘Jo’s aerial yoga retreat at Floating Leaf in Bali was a treat from beginning to end. It was enjoyed by a group aged 16 -58 years with skill levels from beginner to experienced. All levels were well catered for with a variety of classes each day.

The open air yoga space was stunning, with a high timber ceiling and a view over the lush surrounding farm land. Outside of yoga time we luxuriated in the beautiful accommodation, ate delicious healthy meals, floated in the pool and made use of the massage and spa facilities.’
