I'm not just counting your heart rate! Reading the pulse is one way the body can speak to us.

Through the rhythm, depth, and quality of the pulse, I can feel your energy, flow of Blood, and the state of your fluids ๐Ÿฉธ

I look for stagnation or blockages, areas where the flow may be stuck or depleted, and the vitality of each organ system โŒ

My fingers sense tension, phlegm, fatigue, stress, and more ๐Ÿคง

A peek into what nutrients and types of foods will benefit us most at different times of our cycle.. and why!

Traditional Chinese medicine views the menstrual cycle as one that aligns with the seasons and their transitions.

Period = Winter โ„๏ธ
Follicular = Spring ๐ŸŒฑ
Ovulation = Summer ๐ŸŒž
Luteal = Autumn ๐Ÿ‚

Therefore, as we do for the seasons, we can incorporate different foods into each phase of the cycle to support our body's functions.

*Please note that cycle days and diet options differ greatly from person to person. This post shares general advice and an approximation of days. Talk with a practitioner for personalised suggestions if your cycle is irregular and/or you have food sensitivities.

But I find the chronicity of these conditions often includes a nervous system component ๐Ÿง

If you take Iron or Vitamin D supplements, this might influence when/how you take them.

Optimise your consumption so you get the most out of your supplements ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ

Here's also a reminder to get your bloods done and test your levels before taking supplements as your body may not have the same needs as your friends and family ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฝ

Iron: ๐Ÿฉธ
- take first thing in the morning, empty stomach, with vitamin C
- iron bisglycinate instead of ferrous sulfate if you have a sensitive gut / tend towards constipation
- take away from caffeine / dairy to maximise absorption

Vitamin D: ๐ŸŒž
- up to 2000IU
- with fats / meal
- especially in winter
- before dinner as it affects melatonin production

I see it often in my patients (myself included): full schedules, busy minds, and yet I also see the impact it has on our energy, sleep, cycles, mood, and overall wellbeing ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

True rest allows our mind and body to recover from the constant demands of daily life. During rest our bodies undergo vital repair processes - supporting everything from our nervous system to our hormones and immune function ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Rest is not unproductive or lazy! Without it, our bodies struggle to regulate, and imbalances start to manifest in different ways.
