Neck pain, headaches, dizziness, and even concussion symptoms can sometimes come from the neck’s proprioception system. This system is how your brain senses neck position and movement.

This “head laser” exercise helps re-train that system by improving neck control and accuracy. The laser helps you see whether you are moving your head in a straight line or not.

And hey, the head laser/lamp serves well for home repairs! I had to climb into the roof space recently.

Most people think poor sleep is just a bad night.

But if you live with ongoing neck, back, or shoulder pain, sleep is often part of the cycle.

Research shows that improving sleep can reduce musculoskeletal pain.

In clinic, I commonly see sleep disrupted not just by pain, but by stress, frustration, work pressure, or injury-related anxiety.

That’s why we don’t just talk about pillows and mattresses.

Yes, position matters for comfort.
Yes, small adjustments can help.

But real improvement usually comes from:

• understanding your sleep habits
• calming the nervous system
• reducing stress drivers
• retraining how your brain links bed and sleep

Sleep is behavioural.
Pain is biopsychosocial.
When we address both, outcomes improve.

If you’re waking up tired and still in pain, it’s worth looking at both together.

📊 Graded activity: how to progress without flare-ups

Once you’re managing activity using the traffic light guide, the next step isn’t doing everything more — it’s increasing gradually.

A rough rule that works for most people:
➡️ Increase total activity by ~10–20% when ready

That increase might come from:
• slightly more time
• slightly more load
• or spreading effort differently across the day

Pain may feel the same during this adapting phase — and that’s OK.
What matters is the trend, not perfect days.

Some days will dip. Some will spike.
Progress is measured over weeks, not sessions.

This is how bodies rebuild capacity.

🚦 The Traffic Light Rule for Pain & Activity

Not all pain means “stop forever.”
But not all pain should be ignored either.

This simple traffic light guide helps you decide what to do during activity and how to reflect afterwards 👇

🟢 0–3 /10 (Go)
Comfortable. Safe to continue.

🟡 4–5 /10 (Caution)
Slow down. Modify load, speed, or range.

🔴 6+ /10 (Stop)
Too much. Time to stop and reassess.

⭐ Key rule:
Pain should settle back to 0–3 within 1 hour after activity.
If it doesn’t — that’s your body giving feedback.

This isn’t about being “tough.”
It’s about learning your limits so you can build capacity without flare-ups.

Save this. Share it. Use it.
Your rehab shouldn’t feel like guesswork.

The term sports injury evokes images of season-ending torn ACLs or broken legs, but in the world of esports, smaller injuries can be just as catastrophic for a player’s career.
