TeleHealth Consultations

During this time we have been undertaking TeleHealth consultations to reduce potential exposure of patients and staff to COVID-19. This has been by video links and also by telephone.

Unfortunately, as of 1 January 2022, the government removed Medicare rebates for telephone specialist consultation.

While we will continue to provide the option of video links or telephone - as a result of the government’s decision, the cost of the telephone consultation will now not have any Medicare rebate and will need to be paid in full by our patients.

We strongly recommend our patients use the video link TeleHealth.

If you are severely unwell, such as having difficulty breathing, call 000 (Triple Zero) or go directly to a hospital emergency department.

If you have travelled anywhere overseas in the past 14 days and have COVID-19 symptoms (especially fever or cough), seek testing at an official COVID-19 clinic or alternatively contact your GP (call ahead so your GP is prepared and aware of your travel history) and isolate yourself.

If you have NOT travelled overseas recently, but have symptoms or are feeling unwell, visit your usual health care provider as you normally would. Avoid contact with others if you are unwell.

If you are worried but well, contact the National Coronavirus Information Hotline on 1800 020 080.

COVID-19 CLINICS: Specialised SA Health-operated COVID-19 clinics are now located at Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre and Lyell McEwin Hospital. These clinics are only for people who have symptoms (especially fever or cough) AND have recently returned from overseas OR have had contact with a known COVID-19 case.

Here is someone who is an atrial tachycardia after an ablation. Multiple emergency rooms told him he was in normal rhythm.

Rhythm problems are difficult and can often be misdiagnosed by physicians who do not regularly evaluate rhythm. We had to undertake cardioversion.

If you have and remain symptomatic - make it a point to see an Electrophysiologist - someone who is trained in heart rhythm disorders.

Restart A Heart Day on October 16 2019 is a global initiative to raise awareness and education of CPR and AEDs in our community.

Every year in Australia and New Zealand around 30,000 people suffer cardiac arrest. Only one in 10 survives.

Restart a Heart aims to encourage people to know CPR and increase survival rates before emergency services arrive. Time counts in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. For every minute that passes without intervention, the chance of survival decreases by 10%.
