Your body's whispers telling you something is out of balance.

Symptoms like period pain, PMS, fatigue and low libido are often normalised. They may be your norm, they may be common but it is not normal.

Ladies, hands up if you dread that time of month as your menstrual cycle approaches? 🤷‍♀️

Perhaps, it’s the wild roller-coaster of emotions you experience in the lead up to your bleed, 😁😭😩😒😡🫣the debilitating pain or the ultra-heavy flow. 🩸🩸🩸🩸Not to mention the stubborn weight that is super hard to shift (no matter what you do) 😳or the nausea 🤢and headaches 🤯 that you have become accustomed to. These can all be related to an imbalance with your oestrogen levels.

Having healthy levels of reproductive hormones throughout your life can make a massive difference to the ease of your menstrual cycle (minimal discomfort, a healthy flow), how quickly you fall pregnant and how easefully you transition from perimenopause to menopause.

👌When to test your reproductive hormones?

The best time to test your reproductive hormones is ideally between days 2-3 of your cycle.

If your wanting to see if you are ovulating and whether or not you have excess oestrogen relative to progesterone then testing your progesterone levels through a blood test either 7 days after you see fertile mucus (if you don’t have a regular cycle) or 7 days before your next bleed.

When you know something isn’t right….. 😩

Have you ever walked out of a doctor’s office feeling unheard or even dismissed? 🤔

Unfortunately, you are not alone and it is something I hear commonly. It can be frustrating, disappointing, confusing and a waste of time and energy.

Perhaps you have had an appointment where you were rushed, or made to feel like your symptoms were all in your head. Maybe your results were ‘normal’ and you were told that what you are experiencing is normal for your age.

“Its normal for a woman your age, a mum with kids, a woman who is stressed”

Or perhaps handed you a script for some pharmaceuticals, usually antidepressants or anti anxiety medication without truly finding out the root cause of your symptoms.
