As a psychologist who deeply values Holistic Wellness, right at the intersection of science and spirituality is a whispering wisdom that is often overlooked ~ Intuition
For many people who are trying to overcome eating disorders, navigate BPD, bypass the storm of trauma, there is a strong, stereotype message they have lost their intuition, ability to identify hunger cues, risky situations, true fear, and it cannot be trusted. That only science and the manualised form of therapy can guide them to the other side of pain and suffering.
I would argue this is not entirely true, and perhaps one of the reasons many people suffering with mental health find themself trapped in cyclic relapse and in a darkness they cannot find their way out of.
Because they are hearing the voice of reason (Their Intuition) deep beneath trying to guide them out, but then they are almost gaslighting themself into believing this could not be accurate. They are told (sometimes very insultingly) someone with BPD or an eating disorder only hears the voice of their mental illness 'that is just your eating disorder talking".
So today, I want to invite anyone out there who maybe feeling trapped in the mind of their inner critic to dive a little deeper for me. See if you can get beneath it and hear the whispers of your Intuition. See what it is trying to tell you. The best way to travel inward and get to it, is to sit down or lie on your back. Close your eyes and imagine you are travelling through your body to the deepest layer. You will notice a stillness and sensation come over your mind and body.
In the next couple of days I am going to provide some really great ways to strengthen your Literal Intuition and your Symbolic Intuition through techniques focused on your:
Intuitive Eye 👁
Intuitive Body🧘
Intuitive Ear👂
Intuitive Mind🧠
Until then know that your greatest level of wisdom was already built in you the day you were born. It has always been there, and always will be.
