Summer reading…slowly making my way through re-reading some of my faves.

Knowledge = Power

Do you learn something new each time you read the same book? I know I sure do!

Public Holiday reading ‘Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself’.
*
Re-reading this fave from Kristin Neff a true leader in the field of self-compassion.
*
I encourage you to reflect: of these three components of self-compassion (self-kindness, common humanity and mindfulness) are there times you are in line with each these? Is there room for moving closer in line with these? If so, it may be time to put in a loving plan of action.

Mindful Minute Monday
*
Today I stopped and smelt the roses - literally!
*
Taking some time to engage fully in smelling these roses and watching this busy bee was such a fulfilling moment of mindfulness today. It really allowed me to connect with nature and reconnect with my body, also giving my mind a refreshing reprieve from some of the heavy thoughts I have noticed appearing lately with all the tragedy and trauma currently going on in the world.
*
On Mondays I will share ideas for an informal mindfulness activity that you can try out for 1 minute too!

What did or could you focus your attention on for 1 minute today?

Mindful not Mind full
*
How often do you find yourself being on autopilot? And therefore miss out on things that may add abundance to your life? Taking at least a minute to engage fully in an activity helps train our brain to notice what is actually right there in front of us, or with us.
*
If I had not being really paying attention, this secret cave would have been completely missed! It’s amazing what we get to experience when we are actually present moment-by-moment.

5 senses
*
How often do you find yourself being on autopilot? Taking at least a minute to engage fully in an activity helps bring us to the present moment, moving us away from being on autopilot.
*
Today I really focused my mind on my chai latte- really noticing all my senses. Paying attention to the smell and the taste, feeling the texture and warmth of the mug, noticing the sights and sounds associated with drinking my beverage.
Being present with my experience of having my hot drink actually made space for enjoying my chai and left me feeling refreshed and ready to focus on my next task!

Taking 1 minute to engage fully in a specific activity can help us refocus our attention back into the present moment. And present moment awareness is paramount to our health and wellbeing👌
*
Today I paused and intentionally focused on this bouquet of flowers for at least 1 minute.

Each Monday I will share ideas for an informal mindfulness activity that you can try out for 1 minute too! And apologies for the last 2- technology 🤷‍♀️🤪

Breath
*
Taking 1 minute to engage fully in a specific activity can help ground and centre ourselves. It means we’re getting in some informal mindfulness practice, training our brain to focus on what we’re actually doing. It can also be a circuit breaker to help us regroup.
*
Today I paused and intentionally focused on my breath for a minute.
