So when you look at the graphic above it's not surprising that we have such tight shoulders and headaches.

Of course we could just spend less time looking down, but if that seems too hard, how about a regular massage??

What a morning!! My son-in-law ran the half today too, which was so great having someone to share the experience with.

In reference to my post from yesterday I'm happy to say I achieved BOTH my goals.

I had such a great mind set for the whole race, I felt happy, had a smile on my face, interacted with other runners and spectators and was singing along to my awesome play list. I also beat my time from last year by 30 minutes!!

I couldn't have asked for a better outcome.

It's 1/2 marathon eve and all the cool kids do a flat lay right!???

Anyhow, as most of my regular clients know I've been training for tomorrow's run all year. This will be my 2nd official 1/2 marathon and I have 2 goals.

Of course I want to better my time, but thats my (B) goal. My (A) goal is to just enjoy the experience. Last year was pretty awful, especially the last 10km or so, I absolutely hated every step and couldn't wait to finish.

This year, not only am I fitter and stronger, but I have a much more positive attitude. And isn't that what it's all about? If it's not making you feel good about yourself and challenging you in a positive way then why do it??

I'm looking forward to updating you all with the outcome either on here or in person next time I see you at your next appointment.

I'm 2 weeks out from a half marathon that I've been training all year for, and 3 days ago I had an EPIC fall (it was truly impressive and I can only wish it had been caught on camera). At first I thought I might have torn something as it was so painful and got worse as the day went on.
As you can imagine this didn't put me in a great place mentally as I imagined all that training was now for nothing as I would need to pull out of the event.
BUT, I put my knowledge to use and as time went on I realised that it most likely wasn't torn, probably strained. Here's the steps I'm taking to aid my healing.
👌I taped it with kinaesiology tape. The tape is designed to help the lymphatic flow and provide some flexible support.
👌I didnt run for a couple of days (full disclosure, I tried but it hurt too much) but I went for some walks as its important to keep movement and blood flow to encourage healing.
👌I soaked in a fully loaded magnesium bath. The magnesium will help with muscle relaxation. I also take a daily oral supplement of magnesium.
👌I avoided stretching the area. As much as you feel like you WANT to stretch, it will only aggravate it whilst the injury is acute.
🤗The extra things I would've liked to add would be massage, functional cupping and some dry needling, all things I'm a pro at but sadly sometimes impossible to do for yourself especially when it's on the back of your body!
✔️Today I managed a careful and slow 5km run, it wasn't totally pain free, but it was manageable. I'm now confident I'll be ready to run and back to 100% by race day.

For anyone else trying to rehab from an injury, this information might be helpful, and I'm happy to help with the extra steps of massage etc!

What if I told you that getting a regular massage could actually SAVE you money??

By reducing the effects of stress, you boost your immune system which means your less likely to need to take time off work and spend money on antibiotics and other medications.

Also, reducing the symptoms of depression means less money spent on doctors appointments to address all the associated potential prescriptions and the cost associated with those.

When you feel better about yourself, life is just more enjoyable.

Start a healthy and enjoyable way of looking after yourself by making time for a massage.

It's the last day of my Arid April, and I'm cheersing the sunset with a zero alcohol bubbly.

Who knows I may continue for a little longer! I haven't found it difficult at all.

I really believe we are ALL more capable than we think.

What's something you have done that you initially thought you wouldn't be able to do, or it would be harder than it turned out being??

Everyone knows that protein is the king of the nutrition needs for building muscle and repairing after working out. It also keeps you fuller for longer which really helps if you're trying to lose body fat.
But trying to get in your daily protein requirements isn't always easy. So when I found this super easy and absolutely delicious recipe I knew it would be on high rotation in my diet.
