In this "Life With" episode, we meet Carmel and hear the powerful story of her journey—from early challenges and reliance on family, to finding confidence, connection, and joy through community and meaningful participation. Through NDIS supports, Carmel’s world has expanded as she builds skills, shares her love of nature and gardening, and forms strong relationships. This is a heartfelt portrait of growth, independence, and a life filled with happiness, purpose, and belonging.

Interchange Shoalhaven is running a Documentary Filmmaking Basics Course, where you’ll learn directly from an industry professional with years of experience. Over six sessions (four hours each, across three weeks), you’ll explore:

-Editing fundamentals

What a celebration it was 🎄
Interchange Shoalhaven’s Christmas Party brought the festive spirit to life in the best way—bright, joyful, and full of energy. From relaxed conversations to shared laughter and big smiles all around, the photos capture a daytime celebration that truly reflected the heart of our community.

The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and fun from start to finish, with everyone coming together to enjoy the moment and celebrate the year that was. These snapshots tell the story perfectly—fun was had by all.

Congratulations Boosties of 2025!

Thanks to everyone who attended our graduation event that celebrated the heart and spirit of the Skills Boost Shoalhaven program on an afternoon hotter than a combi oven. The location was the suitably spectacular Arthur & Yvonne Boyd Education Centre at Bundanon.

Our special guests included Federal Member for Gilmore Fiona Philips, Mayor of Shoalhaven City Council Patricia White and CEO Andrew Constance, Shoalhaven Food Network President Di Laver as well as local employers, educators, colleagues from across the disability support sector and most importantly the Skills Boost graduates and their families and friends.

Everybody was involved in our demonstrations of experiential learning - including a highly competitive Food Safety Kahoot and a rollicking improvised restaurant experience complete with scandal, controversy and a very large blueberry pie. The winner of the coveted Golden Whisk (for taking the biggest risk) was Leah Foley from Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.

Our twin objectives of the day were celebrating the achievements of our Skills Boost graduates, and creating dozens of enthusiastic advocates for the program as we head towards our next trainee intakes and work placements in 2026. Based on the discussions at the event and feedback received today - these have been well and truly achieved!
