SOCIAL GROUPS FOR NEURODIVERGENT YOUNG PEOPLE

We’re currently exploring the possibility of running social groups for neurodivergent young people (aged 12–30 years old) during the school holidays and beyond, and we’d love to hear what kinds of spaces and activities people would actually enjoy being part of.

We know that a lot of traditional social spaces can feel overwhelming, high-pressure, or simply not designed with neurodivergent young people in mind. We’re interested in creating something different - a relaxed, inclusive environment where people can connect in ways that feel comfortable and genuine.

Some of the things we’re considering include creative and art-based activities, board games and collaborative activities, quiet spaces, and opportunities for casual social connection with other neurodivergent young people.

We’re inviting young people, parents, carers, guardians, and support people to complete a short expression of interest survey to help shape what these groups could look like.

If this sounds like something you or someone you know might be interested in, we’d really appreciate your feedback.

At Nurtured Minds and Futures, we want to take a moment to acknowledge something many in our community are feeling right now.

World events and the rising cost of living are having a real and significant impact, not only financially, but emotionally and psychologically as well. For many, things may feel heavier, more uncertain, and harder to manage than usual.

We want you to know that you are not alone in this and we feel it too.

If you need additional support, whether that’s for your mental wellbeing, help putting food on the table, or accessing financial assistance, it is always available. There are people and services who genuinely care and are ready to help.

Please know that we are not a crisis service, but we do have therapists available with short wait times. There are also many local, phone, and online services that can support you in a range of ways. Please see services listed in the flyers with this post.

We also want to gently remind you that you don’t need to wait until things reach crisis point to seek support. Looking after yourself and your loved ones early can make a meaningful difference, and it’s a strong and important step.

Please take care of yourselves and each other, and don’t hesitate to reach out when you need it 🤍

If you know of any supports or services we have missed, please pop them in the comments ☺️

Meet Alastair Collins – New Therapist at Nurtured Minds & Futures!

We’re so excited to welcome Alastair to the clinic - a therapist who brings curiosity, warmth, humour, and real-world understanding into the therapy space.

Alastair works alongside people who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to manage the day-to-day demands of life.

As a calm, grounded male role model, Alastair values respect, collaboration, and practical problem-solving. His approachable style is often a great fit for boys and men who feel unsure about trying therapy and want space to talk about real-life challenges and interests.

As a neurodivergent therapist, Alastair deeply understands what it’s like to navigate a world that isn’t always designed for your brain. He can help you build strategies that actually fit life, rather than trying to force things that don’t work.

He supports people with:
• Creating and sticking to organisation systems & routines
• Self-care like sleep, eating, and daily habits
• Stress, anxiety, and low mood
• Understanding and managing big emotions
• Executive functioning & impulse control
• Sensory needs
• Building healthy, respectful relationships
• Finding purpose and meaning in everyday life

Alastair’s Fees are: $194 per hour
*With a Chronic Condition Management Plan from your GP, you can claim a rebate of $138.25, leaving a gap of only $55.75.

You may also be able to use NDIS funding.

To book an appointment or discuss suitability, get in touch via email at admin@nurturedinds.net.au or by phone on 0493 064 425.
