Outdoor Pools Update‼️

Due to the cooler conditions forecast, all Moira Shire Outdoor Pools will be closed on Thursday 12 February.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Please keep an eye on our page for any updates.

🌞 OUTDOOR POOLS OPENING HOURS UPDATE 🌞

All outdoor pools have now reverted to school term opening hours:

🕒 Weekdays: 3.30pm – 7.00pm
🕐 Weekends & Public Holidays: 1.00pm – 7.00pm
🏊 Early morning lap swimming times remain unchanged.

🔥 On days of extreme heat, pools may extend opening hours into the evening. Extended hours are based on forecast conditions, attendance levels, and staff availability.

We’re here to help, not to be abused.

Our facilities are here for the enjoyment of the whole community, and our staff are here to help make each visit a positive one.

As part of their role, our staff may need to provide direction, intervene or address behaviour to ensure everyone can use the facility safely and respectfully. These interactions are a normal and expected part of visiting a public pool.

We welcome questions, feedback and respectful conversation. However, abusive, aggressive or disrespectful behaviour towards staff or other patrons is not acceptable in any form.

We ask that all concerns are raised calmly and constructively. Disagreement or frustration does not justify abuse.

Our team members are part of this community. They deserve to feel safe, supported and respected while doing their jobs.

Thank you for helping us keep our facilities welcoming spaces for everyone.

🔥SERVICE UPDATE - Moira Shire Outdoor Pools

We’re pleased to advise that all Moira Shire Outdoor Pools are scheduled to reopen today at 1PM.

Conditions will continue to be closely monitored, and opening times may change if conditions deteriorate.

🔥 Service Update
We are closely monitoring the current fire activity across the region and are aware that conditions are rapidly escalating in parts of the Shire.
Our decision to close YMCA-managed facilities today was made to prioritise the safety of our community and our staff, some of whom are currently responding to emergency conditions in their local areas.
We encourage everyone to stay informed via the VicEmergency app and follow all official advice.
Our thoughts are with all those impacted.

🔥 Facility Closure Notice | Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating

All YMCA-managed recreational facilities across the Moira Shire will be closed on Friday 9 January due to the forecast Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating.

A Catastrophic rating indicates extreme fire conditions. To support community safety, we are closing our facilities for the day to help reduce unnecessary travel and movement, and to ensure our teams and patrons are not placed at risk.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if anything changes.

Please stay informed via the VicEmergency app and follow all official advice.

☀️ Extreme Heat Safety Reminder ☀️

With very hot weather forecast this week and temperatures expected to well and truly exceed 40°C, we’re asking everyone visiting Moira Shire Outdoor Pools to take extra care in the heat.

✔️ Stay well hydrated
✔️ Practise sun safety, hats, sunscreen, shade
✔️ Cool down and take breaks if you feel unwell

During extreme heat, health authorities recommend taking extra care and limiting prolonged outdoor activity during the middle of the day where possible. To support this, our pools will be open until 8pm, giving everyone more opportunity to cool down safely.

We’ll have additional staff on site and extra conditions in place during extreme heat. Please follow staff directions at all times.

As always, active supervision is essential. Children must be watched closely and our Watch Around Water policy applies at all times.

⛔️Closed: 6:00am to 8:00am- No early morning swimming
🏊 Open: 1:00pm to 7:00pm

Philbert and Santa hit the road to spread some Christmas cheer, making a few stops along the way at our facilities across the shire. It’s safe to say Philbert made it to the nice list.
