My Story

Permission to Shine started out as Love Your Body Love Your Life with a focus on self love and feeling good about your body which is so very, very, important.

However the more I ventured inwards on my own journey the more I came to appreciate how happiness and peace and confidence and joy and healing are an inside job and that ultimately the only person holding us back is ourselves ~ and so Permission to Shine was birthed.

I’ve always been an emotional kind of girl which has drawn me towards processes and modalities that help release emotional stories from the body; processes which allowed my body to speak for me and to me when I had no conscious awareness of what was going on.

We all started out life as sensate, emotional beings so it makes sense that a lot of our earlier experiences and beliefs are not necessarily remembered by the rational mind as cohesive thoughts and beliefs, but rather remembered by the subconscious mind or body as feelings, sensations and emotions that were innately expressed or suppressed at a time when we couldn’t put into words what we were feeling.

There is absolutely no doubt that talk therapy is important in the healing process, it is both powerful and empowering to share your story with another person; to be witnessed, to be heard and to be acknowledged.

What lights me up is processes that do not involve verbal story telling but rather allow the body to organically surrender those emotions and feelings and sensations and experiences that possibly no longer serve us and wish to be released.

I discovered TRE [Tension Releasing Exercises ] in 2017 and loved the healing journey so much that I became a certified provider in 2019. TRE accesses the bodies innate wisdom to assist it in releasing stress and tension and emotional stories from the body ~ it allows your body to be witnessed; to be seen and to be heard by you.

I have found that since using TRE regularly I have less stories taking up space in my head, I have less reactive responses, I have more awareness around my body, I laugh at myself more and I have more capacity for joy in my life. TRE builds resilience.

I love the simplicity of TRE and when practiced regularly the rewards are more; more joy; more energy; more zest for life, more of me showing up in all my playfulness, curiosity and vulnerability ~ ultimately it’s a journey of coming home and stepping into my true essence.

And this is the space I both hold and desire for you ~ that you too experience more joy and energy and playfulness and more of whatever lights you up as you too step closer into your true essence.

I call TRE my crazy weird crazy good medicine.
