Shared with Friends;

Today, I'm reminded of what John Howard once said-" the people never get it wrong at elections". When you have unnecessarily complex, not clearly costed policies, incl.tax hikes, and sudden changes to prior retirement plans previously to planned, delivered by a not popular, albeit sincere,well-meaning leader, you just end up "scaring the horses". It doesn't cut it and won't win elections!
btw 1st past post would have produced the same result. Also the mathematical "geniuses" advising the pollsters have to re-visit their methods and prediction parameters ASAP!!

INCREASING PERTUSSIS (WHOOPPING COUGH) VACCINES Increasing pertussis (whooping cough) CASES IN VICTORIA..

In 2015, I raised the issues concerning giving Pertussis Vaccine in later pregnancy and in early childhood in following the recommendations of Information about pertussis (whooping cough) disease, vaccines and recommendations for vaccinations in mothers and babies from the Australian Immunisation Handbook.
As a follow-on from the concerns of myself and others, way back then ,in , I note that, at 3 Sept 2024, in "health.vic.gov.au", even with the vaccines available, cases of pertussis (whooping cough) are continuing to increase in Victoria. There have been over 10 times the number of pertussis cases, in 2024

FOLLOW-UP RECOMMENDATIONS IN 2024 FOR PERTUSSIS VACCINE IN MOTHER AND BABY
Pertussis-containing vaccines are recommended for children at 2, 4, 6 and 18 months, and 4 years of age, and adolescents at 11–13 years of age.
Pertussis-containing vaccines are recommended for adults at ages 50 years and 65 years.
Vaccination of pregnant women is recommended during each pregnancy, preferably between 20 and 32 weeks gestation.

A most welcome resolution for mothers and babies!
At: https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/free-rsv-vaccines-for-mothers-and-babies-as-cases-spike-by-37-000-20241108-p5kp1u.html
Pregnant women and their babies will be able to access free protection from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) before next winter after a spike of 37,000 extra cases in Australia this year.
Previously, immunisation has cost parents more than $300. A working group of state, territory and federal leaders will aim for a consistent approach to Beyfortus. At present, a single dose is recommended for babies under eight months ahead of their first RSV season, with another dose recommended for children under two years old who are at risk of severe disease before their second season.

The respiratory virus is the leading cause of hospitalisation for infants, with 12,000 babies admitted each year. Before next winter, protection for mums and bubs will be free.

Talking about price gouging! How about some of the pricing signs on supermarket goods-such as the listed price- with something like-"2 for $3.50, 1 for $3"-ridiculous
