🧠💗 The Feeling See-Saw 🎢
When children are dysregulated, it’s like a see-saw between thinking and feeling.

😫 As big feelings go up…🧠 The ability to think clearly, reason, problem-solve and use logic goes down.

That’s why meltdowns, shutdowns or big reactions can happen — their brain is flooded with emotion, and they can’t access the part that helps them use thinking strategies to cope calmly.

🌈 Our job? To help them regulate so their see-saw can balance again.

✨ Connection, co-regulation, calm spaces and predictable routines can make all the difference.

📝 What is Dysgraphia?
Dysgraphia is a learning difficulty that affects how easily children acquire written language and how well they use written language to express their thoughts and ideas.

✍️ Kids with dysgraphia might:

Struggle to put thoughts into words.

Have disorganised placement of letters and words on a page.

Use a mixture of upper case/lower case letters and/or irregular sizing.

Have messy or illegible handwriting.

Use an unusual pencil grip.

Be reluctant or refuse to start, plan, and complete writing tasks.

Tire quickly during writing.

💡 OTs can help!
Occupational therapy can support children with dysgraphia by:

Assessing the type of dysgraphia and components affected.

Supporting executive function skills.

Improving fine motor skills.

Recommending assistive technology for written tasks.

Consulting with educators about appropriate accommodations in the classroom.
