Reflecting on NAIDOC Week

During NAIDOC Week, participants of Barossa Home & Community Options, took the time to learn about the Dreamtime story of the Rainbow Serpent—a story that speaks of connection and creation.

Together, they each created a piece of the serpent and joined them to form one collective artwork. It was a wonderful way to come together and recognise the culture and traditions of First Nations peoples.

Following the extreme weather conditions, we are currently experiencing a power outage and have been advised that it will not be coming back on until later today, as a result our production and administration divisions will be closed today. Supported Employees who arrived for work this morning are currently being transported home.

We asked Rick Collis, Production Manager of Barossa Enterprises what winter means to him and the business?

Winter signifies the end of the vintage season, and from a business perspective, it is a pivotal turning point for the wine industry that supports much of our operations.

Wineries now focus on bottling and packaging, preparing their product for distribution and sale.

This means our production becomes busy as we work to support them in preparing their final product for the domestic and export markets.

This activity continues through to the end of the year, making it one of the busiest periods for us. Packaging becomes a high priority for our customers, and we mobilise every resource to meet the high demand.

At the same time, winter also signals the conclusion of the apple season. Earlier in the year, we saw a demand for apple bins to support harvesting and storage in the fruit-growing sector.

However, as apple growers complete their harvest and seasonal operations end, things quieten down in this area.

Barossa Youth Options participants ventured to this iconic South Aussie spot, and crossed paths with none other than Cosi Costello from South Aussie with Cosi 🎥 🙌

Not only did they get to meet the man himself, but they even had the chance to be part of some filming! 🎬 What an absolute highlight — meeting a South Aussie legend and TV star! It's not every day you get to rub shoulders with someone who represents everything we love about SA!

Thanks for making our day even more unforgettable, Cosi! 💛
