Back Pain is one of the worlds leading causes of disability.... and yet there are really effective treatments for recovery and relief.

One of those treatments is the physiotherapy CFT which was pioneered at Perth 's Curtin University with Peter O'Sullivan and his team.

We've always treated chronic back but are now participating in the study.
So if you or someone you know needs help with back pain please get in touch.

We are super excited to announce a new group we'll be offering in the new year ~

๐ŸŒŠFlow State with Atiya
An art group for neuro-divergent women who flow.

Flow state is about being fully present in a space where you can create, connect and build balance in life.

Women flow each month with the menstrual cycle and throughout the month regardless of what life stage you are in, the hormones wax and wane. Research shows that simply by sitting together women's hormones become more balanced.

This is art for art's sake with no artistic experience required. Our first project will be weaving. Depending on your sensory preference this could be with paper, clay or recycled materials. Further information provided with registration or expression of interest.

Facilitated by Atiya Burrow Ali, occupational therapist with strong interest in artistic expression and life experience as a woman with ADHD and hormonal challenges.

Meeting: Wednesdays 10 - 11.30 am
Location : PCYC Hilton Art Room - with kitchen, disability accessible toilets and air conditioning.
Open to all women who are 14+ years old.

Register : by application (current patient at Next Wave Therapy only need email your interest).
This is an OT led group. NDIS Capacity Building and private health insurance claims may be used.

To apply to join the group please email admin@nextwavetherapy.com.au
For more information post your questions below or contact us

Maximum of 10 participants.

We look forward to seeing you there.

When is hip pain not hip pain?

The simple answer to this is when it relates to something else that doesn't seem logical because the pain is in the hip.

Some possible reasons are
lumbar spine issues,
pelvic instability,
Sacro Iliac joint dysfunction,
lower back muscle tension
or even shoulder issues.

Lisa loves working with people in the studio / gym using physio exercise rehabilitation to address 'hip pain' that may not be coming from the hip!

Women's Hormonal Health : Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

If your life is disrupted each cycle and you have tried everything to 'treat' it, an occupational therapy approach may be helpful.

Supporting women's hormonal and mental health is a special interest for Atiya (OT) and Sasha (OT & Naturopath).

Occupational Therapists address women's hormonal health , mental health and pain through supporting women to build strategies or make changes in
- sleep
- routines
- reviewing values and goal setting
- pacing
- meaningful participation in life

Atiya brings additional knowledge for women with neurodivergence at any stage in life.
Sasha provides support with women with complex pain and fatigue.
