How confident are you in jumping??
Jumping is often part of end-stage rehabilitation before athletes return to play after an injury.
Breaking these movements down is a good way to gain confidence and build progressive strength and power. It also makes it easier to identify potential weaknesses in the plyometric chain.
βPlyometricβ can be defined as any movement that involves our body leaving the ground like jumps, bounds, and hops
So rehab for these type of movement might look like
Firstly Working on the eccentric stage in isolation is like learning to put the brakes on before you start to drive.
Then building power production in the concentric phase.
Step 3 would start combining the two phases, dropping off a step to encourage eccentric control, with a single concentric contraction (hop) into a double-leg landing (easier than a single-leg landing).
You can increase the difficulty by working exclusively on the single leg and progress or regress with a step/box/platform to jump or hop onto.
For targeted sports rehab, our physio's Lisa, Rushil and Jonathan are here to help.
~ Lisa has extensive experience in the sports arena as a physio, coach and Olympic athlete in paddling.
~ Rushil has a special interest in hypermobility and has played Golf at Collegiate level. He has sporting interests in cricket, Padel, golf and team sports.
~ Jonathan is a Specialist Physio and is involved with all water sports such as surfing, kite surfing, diving.

Movement is Medicine - happy faces in the studio!!
Whether you join our semi-private exercise rehab classes or have individual sessions there's no denying that exercise helps in so many ways.
Have you heard of exercise induced analgesia?
Basically exercise helps pain by releasing your bodies natural opioids (pain relieving chemicals).
